i'd put tiger woods at #3 behind Babe...maybe even above Jordan.

    but since you have him twice...at #5 and #8...and 8-5 = 3...that might just work. ;)

Where the HELL is Eddie Griffin on that list.

He was traded for three first round picks. And was a great college player in his freshman year.

I think if you're going to have a tennis player on the list, it needs to be Anna Kournikova.

Wait, that was an all male list.

    How is Aggasi an Icon?

Pete Sampras should be ahead of Aggasi, yet I feel Aggasi shouldn't even be on the list.

Somebody like Rod Laver or Arthur Ashe should be on the top 10 sports icon list.

I think to be an icon in a sport, you should be able to transcend your sport. You should be bigger than the game.

    MJ is bigger than basketball.
    So is Babe Ruth,
    Tiger too.

    Mike Tyson. O.J. Simpson.

You didn't say the list had to be happy feely, and the other thing is, even when they were known for only sports, they still were bigger than their sports. O.J. is probably the first black athlete who really transcended race in using athletes for marketing products.

Tough to narrow it to ten...but...

4 basketball players is too many. I'd remove Dr J and Larry Bird.
3 baseball is too many. Pete's a longshot bet.

I'd subsititute Ali, Pele, and ...since I don't follow world soccer...I'd add Gretzki (just edging out Gordie Howe (remember him Aero's fans?). I suspect our Euro members will have some Soccer additions. Billy Jean King might also be a good candidate.

Are we talking world top 10 or American top 10? Because if it's world top 10 then none of Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Dr. J, Pete Rose, Larry Bird, Johnny Unitas or Walter Payton would ever make the list.
