Other than the Wyatts/Ambrose & Reigns fued and Rollins/Sting fued nothing has a good long term build at the moment that is new and exciting. Cesaro, Neville & Owens can do no more to show they deserve to be there with Rollins on PPV main events. Atleast they are hitting homeruns within the tag division. I think a divas tournament for a #1 contender spot would rule. If they give them NXT time to work. Paige, Becky, Charlotte, Sasha, Tamina, Naomi, Natalya, someone else like Evil Emma
This company's inability to make guys a big deal is embarrassing. Lesnar and Taker main event SS, and now Sting is wrestling for the strap. I love all 3 guys, but they should not be at the top of programs at this point. Reigns has star written all over him, but creative continues to kill him. They make him recite painfully scripted promos, and engage him in feuds with no momentum. I've never been a Reigns fan, but the company has done him no favors, his pushes are all terribly booked. They need to desperately change things up for him. Let him cut loose on the mic, or turn him heel. Ambrose had momentum, went nowhere. Wyatt had momentum, went nowhere. Owens was off to a great start, inexplicably had him tap. Cesaro has the size and the skill, never given a chance to wrestle for the strap. It always circles back to Cena. As far as the women go, they need to make Sasha a face. Have her play the exact same character and be a Stone Cold style face. She is really over right now, and has shown the ability to get great matches out of just about anybody. All this other crap is dragging her down, she's good enough to elevate the whole division. Have her chase for a while, then have her carry it for a while.
I agree with a lot of your statements. WWE has a load of talent, probably the best its been in ages and like was said, it's the booking that is off and all blame falls on Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn still holding onto "Attitude Era" format but with 3 hours! Attitude Era Booking -No matches ever booked/hyped in advance. You go into every show having no clue what the matches are, who's there etc. -Put big names in PPV-worthy matches every week on TV to try and pop a rating, thus oversaturating the product, killing dream matches. -Show opener with an authority figure, usually heel, ALWAYS. -Midcard never focused on enough, thus stunting their growth and potential. -Women tossed together in short segments, no individuality. (More time is given to Lana/Summer Ray drama over the Divas who actually wrestle) This format is severely, severely dated and needs to be scrapped but won't until there is a changing of the guard--which means Vince has to die (he won't retire; Im sure he's going to croak in a writers meeting or even in the gorilla position before he ever decides to retire.) NXT is doing well because Vince has NO say in it. WWE needs to take a back to basics approach when it comes to booking shows and present a more sporty feel, it'd be a drastic change from the norm we're all so used to and numbed from. That's what it will take to freshen up the product. It needs to evolve like television shows has evolved. Character development, slow burns, continuity, not knee-jerk television like WWE does. Won't happen til Vince is gone sadly.
Great Raw last night... Sting Vs. Rollins for the WWE title I mean come on am I dreaming? Expecting a triple H or Kane interference of course but still I can't believe im gonna be there for Stings first WWE title match.
Really surprised by a lot of y'all reactions... Y'all act like people are getting buried lol if they are on Raw they are doing better than half the roster, if they get 10 minutes they are doing better than like 75% of the roster.... Owens, Cesaro, Neville and co are all getting plenty of opportunities. You want thier career archs to seem organic, non of those guys except for maybe Owens are WWE title material right now. Not everybody can be in the main event plus they are trying to keep all these guys away from Rollins right now because Rollins is hot.
Cesaro and Neville are def main event title level and you can watch there matches against Cena & Rollins where they tore the house down if you don't believe it
It's not about the time though it's about what they are doing with the time. Yes those guys are on the show every week...but doing what exactly? It's the same thing with the Diva's, yes they are getting more time but the reaction to their matches is the same. Every week they have 0 stakes matches that mean nothing. So what is the point really? The 4v4 tag match? what's the point? Do the winners get to move up in the rankings or what's going on here? What ever happened to #1 contender matches? Tournaments? It was cool to see Cena go down and bring the U.S Title up to some legitimacy, how about instead have those 7 guys in a battle royal for the #1 contender for the IC belt? Also, it is a problem that Taker/Brock/Cena are on another level than everyone else...and two of those guys will wrestle twice a year.
I don't see how you can complain about some of these things, especially the bolded. Do you want less quality wrestling? What big names are wrestling every week, since it's not Taker and Lesnar? Unless you mean the upper mid carders and "fighting champions" who are wrestling every week putting up these "ppv worthy" matches. Oversaturating the product may apply to Cena v Orton 15 times, but how has it applied recently and how does it kill dream matches? They still protect the actual ppv matches. And the women got an interview and match that lasted 3 segments, obviously much longer than what Summer and Lana got. Maybe this was the case before the nxt girls came over, but not on yesterday's Raw.
I can get behind this sort of idea. The generic heels v faces tornado tag main event does get tired quick, but I hope this is a special case since they had to do the Rollins segment last. #1 contender matches, royales, gimmick matches were fun. Around the buildup to the Rumble, they had DB and Reigns do this tag team gauntlet the whole show that was really entertaining.
You have no idea son. The WWE put them on RAW, then book them in a way that tells us they are not real stars and just as good as every other midcarder on the roster. When people talk about there push, nobody is suggesting put the strap on all of then. You can make guys look and fee important without the belt. They don't have to be the main even to feel important. They should be made to look like they are threats to the belt, so the title means more and we give a **** about them. I've seen all of those guys wrestle each other all ready, they are just thrown in random matches, no real angles to develop any emotion in the character. New guy or girl comes in, they shine for a bit and go back to the pack with everyone else.
Yeah, it's the reason in the build up to Wrestlemania the common defense for Reigns in the main event was "nobody else is a realistic threat to Lesnar". Well's who fault is that? This isn't real wrestling, the results are predetermined, you can make anybody look as strong as you want. They spent all of last year building up Reigns, every major bullet they had was used on Reigns. When they realized a large segment of the audience wasn't with him, there was nobody else booked to look strong. In fact the Rumble had 4 guys in the end that could have looked strong (Ziggler, Wyatt, Ambrose, Rusev) and they dumped them like scrubs to make Reigns look good. I've never been as against Reigns as others, but they wasted a whole year of poorly booking a buildup all on one guy, while ignoring everybody else. Now that Reigns is also in mid-card purgatory, the only people on the entire roster that actually seem like top guys are Cena and Lesnar. Rollins has 2 belts, and is an electric performer, but they have yet to let him straight up beat a few people. He looks like a fraud who's just holding the belts. It takes months of sustained momentum and feud winning to make guys feel important, and they have yet to give anybody that. They get a month or 2, and when the fans aren't exploding they dump them and try somebody else, rinse and repeat
If we are just going by their work than of course they can be top level stars... But don't act like when Cesaro comes out he has any type of charisma, he comes out pumps some fist and kicks ass which is fine but its not going to get you to the top. And I'm a huge Cesaro fan. Samething with Neville he can barely cut a promo, being the man is more than what happens between the bells. When Neville comes out in his stupid cape I cringe and just pray that its over fast, so that I can enjoy his awesome matches.
How is that a problem, Brock isn't supposed to seem like your average WWE superstar... you don't want Brock out there every night because it becomes stale. Taker should be at another level than everyone else. What do you want him to do? Come out and destroy King Barret twice a month? His character works because you know when you see him it is special, regardless of what actually is happening. Cena makes them more money than anybody and he generates the biggest and most passionate reactions out of the fans. Go to any WWE event and when Cena walks out the place wakes up, they either scream let's go Cena or Cena sucks but there isn't a damn person in the building sitting down
Lesnar's increased his work rate by a ton but I do agree he should be kept to a minimum, because you know it will be something special RR v. Cena and Rollins WM v. Reigns and Rollins Beast In The East v. Kofi and really New Day Battleground v. Rollins SS v. Taker Oct 3rd in MSG v. ?
I think Cesaro's promos are really great and he's gotten way more from the crowds since getting back to singles matches. I do agree with that on Neville, the look of his character needs to develop.
No, it's not a problem with Brock or Taker. You misunderstood. It's more of a problem that Cena is the only guy on that level. That they have put Cena on another level with the rest of the roster. For example, while Austin was dominant he was never put above Rock or HHH. He took his big losses as did they. Cena doesn't even have a rival, the closest thing to it would have been CM Punk but he's 'retired' or I guess it would be Orton. He'd be the closest thing to it. So it is a problem because Cena is the guy and they have no other major superstars that really rival him outside of legends that wrestle part time.
Women's wrestling amounts to watching female gymnasts and hoping a titty might fall out. Unfortunately, the only titty that falls out might be yours. You guys might get something out of watching the men pretend to fight but the women's division is unbearable.
It's a shame that WWE and their poorly booked, model first mentality has many people thinking this way. Sasha and Bayley had the match of the night. 13000 good wrestling fans, and that was easily the match they were invested in most, should have been the main event. Woman can draw if you do it right.
