I used to work at a japanese restaraunt called Nara as a sushi chef. One night I was working and a gentleman had got up from the sushi bar after paying but left his wallet. Someone tells him as he's walking out and ends up it was Rudy T. I can't believe he was sitting there the whole time and i didn't even notice until he came back to get his wallet. Also saw Charles Barkley at Tinseltown movie theatre, Kevin Willis at Boaka bar, Cuttino Mobley at The Gatsby andStephon Marbury and Kevin Garnett at Houstons (Back when they were on the same team) Oh and once saw Shaq at the "Q" in sugarland, which is now 24hr fitness.

Did they leave a big tip? :)

Wasn't there a thread a while back about someone seeing Chuck Nevitt at a gay bar?

I've seen a few Rockets around..

I met Mobley on the UT campus (signing autographs for some gig).

I saw Yao with Colin in a town car just before Yao got his license.

I met Don Chaney at the airport just after he got fired as Rockets Coach (probably on his way to Detroit).

I saw Posey partying Downtown at 3am the night before the BIG game against Phoenix in March.

Not a Rocket, but Ricky Williams was checking out my chick at the Galleria last year (at Banana Republic).

I have seen sam casel at sharpstown, before it got super ghetto but after the reconstruction. It was at the movie theater.

I saw Rudy T at Chuys on westheimer. He was with that idiot lil guy ithblonde hair that used to do rockets pregame and half time when they showed the games on channel 20.

I have seen Ken Caminite at a signing at Academy. He was with the same annoying guy as above.

I have seen Ernest Givens at Target on main many years ago buying a cofee maker. He is tiny.

I live in Australia so its kinda hard for me to meet NBA players but i did have lunch with Kenyon Martin, Andre Miller, Jason Terry, Mike Miller, Shawn Marion, Wally S, Baron Davis and Jermaine O'neal... when they came down for the Goodwill Games in 2001. Of course they won the gold medal, but who woulda thought! when they came down these guys werent so popular.. but since this 4 have been all-stars (marion,o'neal, wally, davis) ...and Martin was unlucky last season.

All the guys were great and signed me and my friend cards (which look great, i cherish them) while we ate with them @ a casino cafe in Melbourne. MY friend took a photo for Andre Miller... i guess im in it (lol) and they were all talking about college days and playing against eachother... was interesting. Mike Miller had the best stories.

In 2000 when the olympic team came down.. alonzo mourning was a a$$holes.. wouldnt sign anything.. and i was 13 years old.. and about the size of their legs. I was not bothering him or anything.. he was waiting for the team bus in the lobby.

    Thats my story :)

For my brother who passed away last year: Leon was a limo driver at the Las Vegas Hilton & regularly drove Charles Barkley (and Dennis Rodman, among others)....Best story I remember him telling me about Chuck was they were hanging at the Hard Rock Casino, it was busy & Leon lost Charles & his "friend" in the croud. Leon went out to check the Limo & Chuck had left a note on it saying "F*** You Leon! I'm going to the Drink!" Leon went to the Drink (a nightclub in LV no longer in business) and Chuck put him in a headlock (jokingly, of course). Another time it was late & Chuck wanted a burger and Leon tried to take him to an all night pizza joint & he busted his chops again: "Does pizza sound like a hamburger to you!...." He always took care of my boy though....(For those who have poor opinions of Rodman know this: he tipped my boy over $1500 in night! He may be strange, but he takes care of people [as long as your not a neighboor]).
    RIP Leon Michael Roesler 1975-2002.

Since we are talking about former Rockets and other celebs, Here is my lil two cents... I worked at Neiman Marcus at the Galleria and saw Clyde Drexler a couple of times, along with Kevin Willis and Sean Berry, who was an Astro at the time. I also met Jason Kidd by way of a sports agent friend of mine, and by the way, he is really down to earth. I also saw Tina Thompson once, and also saw Cynthia Cooper and the late great Kim Perrot frequently in the mornings, when I would see Andrea Gardner practicing her skating. (does she skate anymore???) I also saw Ray Mercer and Antoine Walker at a shoe store in the Galleria, and Hideo Nomo walking aimlessly though the Galleria corridors (hat was sad, he looked like he had NO clue). I saw a very short Muggsy Bogues, carrying about three bags and on a mission, walking around and going to different stores with his Warriors gear on. As a kid I saw former Rockets coach Don Cheney at a Flea market, and tripped out because of how tall he was. I drove past Othella Harrington near Westside Tennis Club one day, and he seemed cool and said hi, BUT I also saw Steve McNair the same way, and the punk didnt even speak! I used to see Kelly and Beyonce at church a lot, in thier pre-Bootylicious days. (man, i miss that FOR real!) I saw the rapper Yo-Yo at Sharpstown with a bunch of crazed kids after her, (this was pre-ghetto Sharpstown), and I Larenz Tate, who is short as heck at the Galleria looking at shoes with lil girls following him. George Foreman is HUGE! He and his family were shopping and I spoke to him. Nice guy. Anyway, sice moving from Houston back to Toledo, OH, I dont see too many athletes or anyone else, except for native son Jim Jackson frequently...hmmm maybe the Rockets could sign him.... naaahhh..too old and too expensive. lol! :D

It's been a million years since I lived in Houston (actually I was there from 1980 to 1988), but here goes...

When I was in line at the Dept of Transportation (either getting a new driver's license and/or updating my plates), Bobby Joe Reid was in line behind me. I recall the clerks watching him and talking about how Moses Malone was a lot more personable, and would crack jokes when he was there. Bobby looked amazingly tall to me, thin and wiry, as I recall.

Back when VHS tape was uncommon and you had to go looking to find decent tapes, I saw Rodney McCray looking for a video at Sound Warehouse. No one came up to him, everyone was acting cool and quiet, but his height and hair set him apart.

Clyde Drexler at Nordstroms in Portland with a tiny elderly white woman ( maybe mother in law)? He was coming in and I was leaving so I looked for the best car parked out in the parking lot being the curious kid I was. It was a Green Volvo.. Couple days later Clyde gets traded to Houston and theres footage of him on the news coming out of the same car.... in Houston though.

    Rasheed Wallace at Circuit City

    Steve Smith at Albertsons

    Pippen driving

J O'neal kickin it outside his house

Saw Akeem in 1987 when I worked for a Jewelry Manufacturing company on Westheimer and Chiney Rock. He was in the lobby looking at gold rings and diamonds.

My boss wouldn't let me talk to him; he was trying to make a sell! :)

That was the first time I was close to Akeem. The one thing that amazed me was that his shoulders were so wide!

On TV he seemed thin/skinny (back in those days). The first time you see a guy that is REALLY 6'10" it incredible!

An co-worker of mine told me that she said hi to Sam Cassell in a Baltimore club. Sam gave her the cold shoulder.

Sam Cassell and Mario Ellie @ Bennigan's next to the Summit after a game.

Clyde Drexler at the Polo store in the Galleria two hours before a game. That night he hurt himself and was out for weeks.

Charles Barkley in the Galleria walking around.

CB and Drexler in the parking garage after a game.

Rudy T in the bar under the Summit after a game. I forgot the name of it, but it's under the bleachers on one of the ends.
