I guess I have a hard time understanding you based on your previous stances, and when your verbal diarrhea reaches a critical mass that you don't even know which side to stand on anymore: This was less than year ago... and yet somehow BOB made up his mind "too soon"??? I'm sure you'd like to admit that pre-season doesn't matter much now, huh? And now you say Mallett is amazing at avoiding the sack... I think you should simply stop with "lets see how it plays out", or all these quotes/stances/expert opinions are just going to continue to come back and haunt you year after year and make you look even more foolish.
Meanwhile, I'm hoping that the forum ups it's game. The Texans forum has been a pretty sad #HotTakes factory without very much good football talk since well before I started posting here. I can only do so much to make this place better, you guys need to help me. The people who don't realize that might want to check themselves because it might mean that they are part of the problem.
You might as well save your time because until you figure out that team accomplishment means nothing when discussing individual performance....and figure out why that is the case, nothing you say will matter.
Haha... the "pointless babbling" was quoting your own words! You really need to spend any more time backtracking to an argument nobody here is making.
The football gods will let hackenberg have another off year thanks to Franklin system and hackenberg will drop in our laps in next years draft or maybe we trade up a couple of spots....wishful thinking lol.
You are trying to make the argument that team accomplishment matters when discussing individual performance....or have you forgotten that already? Seriously, this is a perfect example of why this forum struggles. Be better.
Nah, this is: Now in 2015: Still waiting for you to explain by what metric do you define the "best 2 QB seasons ever" (that had their teams finishing with losing records). You've become a caricature of yourself now...
If everyone here sucks, why not create your own forum where you can interact with people who are up to your standards?
A highly predictable uninspiring decision by what has to be the most boring and uninspiring franchise in major sports. Seriously.
To be honest, Ryan Mallett never really capitalized on his chance. They are both pretty much even in my opinion. It's like a split of an hair between them. So if Hoyer screws up then in come Mallett.
To be honest Mallett didn't strike me as much of a vocal leader during the snaps I saw on Hard Knocks. I know this isn't based on much, but still.
Wait, you just proved my point.... Also, when was the last time a quarterback on a 3-11 team had a good year?
Show me where I ever said that I don't prefer metrics, but rather only look at records... I'm just here to provide a vantage point showing that you're like the Skip freakin Bayless of this place. Just all over the place. Look, I understand where you were coming from with the stats. You act like I've never heard if QBR, TD/Int ratio, Yards per attempt, or any other QB related metric. That's not the case. What I said was that of all positions, a quarterback's performance is most directly tied to a team's win-loss record. That's something that's not debatable. If you want to debate that, you'll have to find someone else to debate that with. In fact, isn't that the reason people are in such an uproar? Yes, it is. People want the quarterback that puts us in the best position to win. It's why we are all here, having this discussion. About the 3-11 comment. Once again, name me a quarterback that had a good statistical year while his team went 3-11? Even if there is one, seeing as to how nobody on this roster is likely to be the franchise quarterback of the future for this team, I could give a damn about our quarterback's season stats, as long as we win. If you want to label me as a "just wins" slow person because of that, by all means, go ahead. The irony of that, is that if you do, we will all know who exactly belongs in that category. About the Big Ben thing. You say he had a two interception game and they still won the Super Bowl. You say that no one remembers how bad he performed in the game, just that he's a Super Bowl champion. How does that prove your point? He just won. It got him a ring. No one cares he threw two picks except those caught up in the stats game. The fans in Pittsburgh sure as hell don't hold it against him like I guess some of our fans would. You also convieninetly ignored that he had a season that most people would at least consider somewhat good both stats and record wise. Why you ignored that part, I'm not sure. It probably would have helped your stats debate out a little more. I'm not saying stats dont matter. I never said that. I'm just saying that in the current landscape of our team, we want the person that gives us the ability to win the most games this season. Unless you're in the tank crowd - different debate. Our QB of the future isn't on the roster. Mallett didn't pass the test. Unless Hoyer sucks and Mallett gets a chance to redeem himself and does, which could happen. As of right now, though, O'Brien has judged Mallett not to be the franchise. I trust him. You should too. He's much more knowledgeable than you or I at this stuff.
So, we are drafting a QB in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft? J.J. Watt is a beast on defense, but damn, I would love to have a beast at QB ...
Hard to understand why he was kicked out of another Texans fan discussion forum. He was probably much smarter than everyone there too... and instead of that forum "upping their game" they showed him the proverbial door.
I am pretty sure four of those wins meant a whole lot. and he has been pretty consistent since 2011 so it is not as if his more recent 8-2 record is meaningless, either.
