im teaching english. in other words, the economy sucks so bad that i couldnt find a real job... when all else fails, go teach english in another country... anyways, any ideas on where i can go to catch rox games? are there any rox fans in korea?
Holy cow! I can't help you there Danny. The only thing I can say is you can go into the Rockets chat during games to find out what's going on and maybe get some play-by-play. Good luck dude. I've heard of traveling for a job, but dang!
My friend that used to live in India told me he got a satellite dish with a service provider that gave you access to a lot of American brodcasts. He also told me that he was able to get a sort of League Pass kinda thing from them and watched all the Rockets games over there. I'm sure there's something comparable to that in Korea, and I'm pretty sure some satellite setup would be your best option.
I haven't been to Korea in a long time, but I think there are some sports bars in Seoul that you could go to. I remember my friend would hang out with Army people and they'd watch games somewhere that was tailored towards Americans...
try satellite if that's not too expensive.. it's possible that it's cheaper there than over here, considering there's a lot more people in Seoul than in New York. from tierre_brown's suggestion, my guess is that you'll have to try a sports bar near the american military base. i'd try itaewon (pronounced ee-teh-won). dunno if there are sports bars there though, it's been a long long time... hey tb!
Well I am being Korean and I know that you get local channel 2 in reg broacast in Seoul. But that channel will not show all the games. I do remember that I catched all the NBA final (95 final) from that channel. Maybe one or few you might be able to catch it. Depends on which games that solders like? Best bet is go with sat. but dont get your hope so. Or you might want to go with NBA Inside tickets?
A bad thing about that is that NBA games aren't broadcast on NBC anymore. It's all on ABC now. Danny your best bet is to either get satelite or get that deal where you can watch games over the internet.I think its that RealOne and League pass thing.
best bet for E. Asia is the cable channel Starsports, which is part of Rupert Murdoch's star tv family. They're based in Hong Kong i think, and began covering a lot of the Rockets games b/c of, of course, Yao Ming. The play-by-play is in Chinese. There should be a few cable providers in Seoul carrying the station.
danny, The reason i asked was because I was thinking of doing the same thing. It would be cool if you could e-mail me so I could ask you some questions. My e-mail is brian_intermill@hotmail.com.
Dont think Korea will broadcast NBA regular season games. Dont think Korea carries Starsports from Hongkong. Best bets: Go to a 5 star hotel when Rox is playing on TNT or something, watch the game overthere. Of course it will be expensive. Spend a week in Shanghai when Rox is playing 4 games in that week. You can go there by ship, it should be cheap. Buy nba league pass audio broadcast from nba.com. South Korea is the most wired-up country in the world, broadband shouldnt cost mush. good luck, be creative.
When did I say NBC? I just say it was channel 2 not NBC! channel 2 there is diff. then Houston's channel 2 P. Yes our channel 2 is NBC but not in Seoul, Corea (or Korea). That channel is manage by Army I think.
Listen to the man! Yeah, they do carry star. And the channel 2 is afkn: armed forces korean network. I watched the Rockets win their championsihp on that channel as well, warnotes.
i have starsports. i hope theyll carry some of the rox games. if not, i guess ill try to subscribe to a web cast.
I just got back from indonesia... I MISSED THE BOMB!!! PHEW! Anyways you should look into getting star sports and espn asia. Contact the american embassy and ask them about getting american sports coverage they should be able to help. Teaching english in another country... uhm why not try indonesia or malaysia or thailand... cheaper living costs and funner place to be ... heheh
Hey I live in seoul. NBA is on the air by mbc espn ( cable tv,Saturday) star sports(hong kong star tv, Friday) afn ( the U.S. armed forces tv,Saturday Monday) We could watch 2-3games per week. If rockets's game is on TV, then you could watch it.
