Perhaps you've heard of their rookie, Willie Cauley Stein. The WCS/Howard frontcourt would be the front line to end all front lines... ... duh!!
Why do fans of Dwight go blind to the fact that we can't play him during critical stretches of the 4th Quarter due to his inability to make free throws. What are his stats in the 4th quarter of games, the smart coaches, Kerr and Pop will foul him to take him out of the game when it counts. DeMarcus on the other hand is a force for all 4 quarters/.
I'll do the hot take and say I don't want him. This team does not need to improve on offense we were one of the top 3 offenses last season. We need Dwight's defensive presence and rebounding more than we need better free throw shooting and post scoring. Dwight is also quicker and better at running the floor which is better with the way we run our offense. Cousins would eventually get pissed that the offense is not going to slow down to get him more touches in the post. Dwight has happily made this adjustment. Ask yourself this: is Cousins going to do any better against the small ball line ups that GS will throw at us? Is he physically imposing enough to challenge DeAndre Jordan? Is he going to be committed enough to chase Aldridge out to 25 feet to contest a jumper? I'll take Dwight in all those scenarios.
Cousins is cheaper at 15m~17m the next three years though..meanwhile DH is looking for a pre-retirement paycheque after the 15-16 season.
I am all for this trade. I think it would increase the chances of Harden staying during his free agency if we haven't won a championship by then. Also, Dwight is on the decline verses Cousins who is on the come up.
Yes, because he would score at a higher rate than D12 in the post and plus get this, actually make his free throws when he gets fould, which would deter GS from using a small ball lineup. Boogie would give Draymond Green the blues in a one on one matchup (D12 did not take advantage of this against GS). As Rudy would say "Run it again". We would also actually have a center that could execute what Dream is teaching.
Has anyone considered age regression therapy for Hakeem Olajuwon? If we could get him back to age 24 he would be an awesome addition to the team.
For the record, they did a statistical analysis of who is the most feared paint protector and Dwight was way ahead of everybody, it wasn't even close. Since nobody shoots in front of him, 1 block for him is like 1.5 or 2 for anybody else. Offense, O.K. but there is nothing like Dwight in the league when it comes to defense and that includes Dwight with the bad knee and all. Sacramento has no reason to trade what they think is the best center in the league. Why do people come up with these hypothetical scenarios that aren't plausible. Has Morey really spoiled Clutchfans so much that they think everybody is lining up to get raped by the Rockets (figuratively speaking in a trade scenario type of way)?
My thought is why would you even think of this? Regardless of whether it is right to trade Dwight or not from Sacramento's side why the F would they trade for Dwight? Dwight is 30, he is battling injuries and he wants to sign a 30M extension...does that make sense for team like Sac which wants to tank and get high draft picks? And for Dwight since his contract is about to expire in a couple of years why will he stay with a team that has no championship aspirations like Sacramento? What blows my mind is your opening statement wondering about why nobody is bringing this up. WTF. OP's next thread: Why don't we trade Dekker and KJ Mcdaniels for KD? Thoughts?
Trading a player that was so highly recruited and pampered...in Dwight and then turning around and trading that said player, outcasts you as a team from any other future major star. You have to ride and die with Dwight and Harden. And if that doesnt work, break it down and rebuild again. And Dwight Howard was the team's MVP in the postseason. He was the team's best and most consistent force. 2015 stats:16.4 PPG c/ 14.0 RPG Cousins has yet to even make the postseason.
