You know, if he loves you and really truly misses you than it probably doesn't matter what you say. Just keep writing, about anything.

If you must use poetry, try and write it yourself. But if it were me as long as I knew you were thinking about me and still cared enought to write everyday that would be good for me.

Here's a simple one no answer:

Last night I wrote a short letter
    And it went this way
    Dear baby I love you
    Just thinking of you
    Love always

Aw. Yup. I make sure something is in the mail for him so he doesn't forget I miss him and think about him non-stop. Being in love is so... nice. Nice? Heh, i'm so deep.

Try it with some stuff from either:

    Pablo Neruda
    or
    R.M. Rilke

Sorry for not having any of them in english.

    Good luck.

    Then there's always:

All my life I pray for someone like you,
And I thank God that I, that I finally found you.
All my life I pray for someone like you,
I hope that you feel the same way too.
Yes, I pray that you do, love me too.

    Or:

I've waited weeks for your call
I've waited here by the phone
But when the silence grew long
I knew that something was wrong
Right then I knew it babe
How could you do it babe?
How could you tear my poor heart in two?

If you're a fan of Damon Wayans, I know you'll recognize that last one Pun.

In your next letter, tell him to go fishin'....

THE SONG OF WANDERING AENGUS by W.B. Yeats (~from memory)

I went out to the hazelwood
because a fire was in my head.

I cut and peeled a hazelwand
and hooked a berry to a thread.

When white moths were on the wing
and moth-like stars were flickering out,

I dropped the berry in a stream
and caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire aflame,

but something rustlled on the floor
and someone called me by my name.

It had become a glistening girl
with apple blossoms in her hair

who called me by name and ran
and faded through the lightening air.

Though I am old with wandering
through hollow lands and hilly lands,

I will find out where she has gone
and kiss her lips and take her hand

    and walk among long-dappled grass
and pluck til time and times are done

the silver apples of the moon
the golden apples of the son.

    |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I had to memorize this poem in the Spring of 1978. I loved it the first time I read it and I love it still. It may not be the most appropriate poem for young love...

    Try this:

"You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste. Good nutrition has given you some length of bone, but you're not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you, Agent Starling? And that accent you've tried so desperately to shed? Pure West Virginia. What's your father, dear? Is he a coal miner? Does he stink of the lamp? You know how quickly the boys found you... all those tedious sticky fumblings in the back seats of cars...while you could only dream of getting out... getting anywhere... getting all the way to the FBI."

    Always works for me.

I need to go, so this is short.

When I am a long way away from people, I like to hear about really mundane things. They seem more special. More special than being and broken bubbles and the space behind. More real than poet emoting.

If it were me, and I loved you, I'd just want to hear about your day, the dog, things at work, what you wore that day, if your shoes were on sale, how you slept, what you had for lunch. I'd be crazy for minutia, just to try and put me back there, for a little while. Like the space left in the air after my girl's soap bubble floats, and pops; I'd try to put us both there.

    pasox2 - great advice

ima_drummer2k - you must be really hot for those lines to work

Dallas - yeah, those are good ones. I chopped them up and added some of my own stuff from them for tonites letters.

He's going to be gone till the begining of September so if you guys (and ladies) find anything before then please post it.

Try this from the poet, David Matthews:

    Crazy how it feels tonight
Crazy how you make it all alright love
You crush me with the things you do
I do for you anything too
    Sitting smoking feeling high
In this moment it feels so right
    Lovely lady
    I am at your feet
God I want you so badly
    I wonder this
    Could tomorrow be
So wondrous as you there sleeping
Let's go drive 'till morning comes
Watch the sunrise to fill our souls up
Drink some wine 'till we get drunk
    It's crazy I'm thinking
Just knowing that the world is round
Here I'm dancing on the ground
Am I right side up or upside down
Is this real or am I dreaming
    Lovely lady
    Let me drink you please
    I won't spill a drop I promise you
Lying under this spell you cast on me
    Each moment
    The more I love you
    Crush me
    Come on
    It's crazy I'm thinking
Just knowing that the world is round
Here I'm dancing on the ground
Am I right side up or upside down
Is it real or am I dreaming
    Lovely lady
    I will treat you sweetly
Adore you I mean you crush me
    It's times like these
    When my faith I feel
And I know how I love you
    Come on
    Lady
    It's crazy I'm thinking
Just as long as you're around
And here I'll be dancing on the ground
Am I right side up or upside down
To each other we'll be facing
By love we'll beat back the pain we've found
    You know

    Crush by Dave Matthews Band

Highschool sweethearts, as well, 16 years of it, this song grabs me every single time and reminds me of how lucky I am. Good luck.

Even considering this Baqui99 is still one hilarious poet.

Okay the cheese factor needs to be turned down a couple of notches on this post. Either that or the Cuervo factor needs to be turned up.

So true! Uhh, I was thinking my wife might be checking out the board...and uhh, like acting grateful would perhaps end up being the best way for her to take me to Brownsville.

Why don't we do it in the road
Why don't we do it in the road
No one will be watching us
Why don't we do it in the road.

    "in your house
    i long to be
    room by room
    patiently
    i'll wait for you there
    like a stone
    i'll wait for you there
    alone"

Access to her cove lovestruck was my mode
Took a look dropped my textbook Jenifa...oh!
Breakfast broke it fast she was in my English class
Asked for notes rocked my boat Jenifa...oh!
Jenny lost her favourite penny so I gave her a dollar
She kissed me and I hollered!
In a flash the schoolbell rang Jenny grabbed onto my hand
Took me home and said "Trugoy just swing it swing it swing!"

The Downstairs where we met, I'd brought records, she'd cassettes
Lost a break, found her shake, Jenifa, oh Jenny
Transcripts showed more than flirt, "I love daisies" read her shirt
Grabbed my jeans, Jimmy screamed, Jenifa, oh Jenny
Morals shaped like the floss, no-one could live their life for Pos
Found her house, aroused my joust, Jenifa, oh Jenny
Her clothes I did shuck, just like Dan I strictly stuck
To the punt, she cried "Kick it!", Posdnous was in
Jenny only thought about Jimmy, but asked was I a virgin
    Like some kid named Derwin?
She said, "Let's try it in the bathroom", but the 'nous is way above sinks
So to the kitchen she did Dan and came back wrapped in Saran

Positions, muscles flexed, Dove was lost in a Ghana hex
Passed her test, felt her teddy, Jenifa, oh Jenny
Notions soothed the mood, Dove was lost in De La heaven
Scream Plug 2, did the do, Jenifa, oh Jenny
Jenny teased my homeboy Granny, in fact she teased so many
She was known as a garden tool
No more I dispatch, was it Jimmy had met his match?
Or could it be the realisation all girls owned a Jenny?
For normal health I have fought, a valuable lesson she hath taught
Don't flaunt that the candy is good unless you came with plenty

Actually McCartney wrote that song. You can hear him perform his first take on the anthology albums.
