Currently 14-6. With five man rotations and less willingness to let starters go as many innings as in the past, it seems much harder to do. How many more starts can he expect? Past Houston Astros 20 game winners Dierker 1969 (20) Hampton 1999 (22) Lima 1999 (21) Niekro 1979 (21), 1980 (20) Oswalt 2004 (20), 2005 (20) Richard 1976 (20) Scott 1989 (20)
Keuchel has a chance to lead the AL in Wins, Innings, ERA and WHIP. Gray and hopefully Kazmir are gonna make the ERA and WHIP crowns tough, and hopefully we build up a cushion and pull back the reins at the end of the year so he falls short of the innings crown. Still the fact that he is in the chase in 4 major categories shows just how beastly he has been. Dominance and a workhorse.
So if he wins 6 more games out of the remaining 46 games left on the season we win the division "going away"? Does it matter how the rest of the staff does?
This.... hope he reaches 20, but main thing is CY 20 is nice, but isn't required to win. All the stats matter.
The main think is him leaving each of his remaining starts with the Astros in position to win the game. Right now, that means leaving with only having given up 1 or 2 runs until the offense can get out of it's collective funk.
