I'm not sure if it is correct record wise or not. But then they lost a crucial game to the Pelicans and then lost in the first round of the playoffs. So I'm pretty sure that it is irrelevant anyway.

Ridiculous to put the Pelicans in the same tier as us and the Clippers. Houston and LA have a chance at winning it all; the Pelicans likely won't get out of round 1.

Probably because the Spurs had a couple of big winning streaks after the ASG. They were a 7th/8th seed with a pretty big distance from them to the 2nd seed, yet could have gotten the 2nd seed on the last night of the season.

Grizz and Pelicans are in tier 3, "likely playoff teams".

Houston is in tier 2 "championship hopefuls".

He had an up-and-down season last year. He definitely didn't look like the same player from their B2B seasons where they went to the Finals.

I thought that too but it's just the way the text was laid out. The Rockets are in the 2nd tier and the Pelicans in the 3rd.

I guess if you count only March 1st to end of season, they had a better record than LAC. But GSW still had the best record over that span, and had the best winning streak in that time frame, too.

something that gets lost in the hype about how "amazing" the spurs/clippers series was (and then the clippers meltdown with the rockets) is that the spurs were really good after the all-star break. they beat GS pretty handily and came an improbable kyrie three-pointer away from beating cleveland when cleveland was beating everyone (or...nearly everyone ;). the way they played is why i wanted a match-up with the clippers in the second round. you can expect a minor drop this year because of age/LMA will take time to fit, but spurs are still definitely a top-tier team as long as that core is healthy and above all, pop is coaching.

I already posted: GSW and LAC had better post All-star game seasons. SAS was only one game better than the Rockets after Feb 15th.

Everyone means they were great in the last month or so. That's true. But even then, GSW posted a better record and longer win streak from March on.

True, but GSW already had #1 seed locked up. It was pretty late in the year. More of a must win for SAS (and they were at home).

"Impropable?!" Irving scored 57 pts that game. He was on fire. Nothing impropable about drilling that look except Pops/Spurs allowing Irving to even get the ball, being that he was on fire.

Good take. Agree 100%. LMA will take fitting in, and not so much him but the role-players in place at SAS aren't used to a PF like LMA. It is them who will take adjusting and fitting into an infusion of LMA-style, half-court sets.

    cheers

This Rockets team , if healthy & Lawson plays like he's capable of is as talented as any team in the league and deeper than most tho I would like to see them add one more point guard (Ridnour) and another NBA quality big (Boozer).
