Literally agree with every word you wrote. Great post. Couple months ago I was saying Jones needs to be traded this summer, didn't expect his value would dip so much. Wonder how much influence 2 bad playoffs in a row have influenced it. Obviously 1 year rental is the key reason

aha..so you will laugh if the Rockets lose one of their assets for nothing? Very funny. Or will you laugh with the new market environment?

Will you laugh as well when DMO after having a season even exactly as last year with no injuries but with no further improvement whatsoever asks for more than 15? 18 per? and has multiple teams offering him exactly this?

I dont' get how any of this can be funny to anyone.

I really don't see any team offering that type of contract to Jones. The highest he might get is around 5-8 million a year.

I'm sorry but when has jones ever been a bench player behind d-mo (not due to injury). Not sure where this bench jones thing starts but to my recollection D-mo has never beat Jones out for a starting Pf spot....... And all of a sudden he'll likely be out of the rotation completely????? That's weird......

If folks actually LISTENED to the podcast to hear Lowe out instead of jumping at a headline to draw their own conclusion, they'd hear him explain that if the Rockets offered to extend him early at 8 mil per, his agent would probably urge him to take that offer.

A year from now a lot can change. Anyone professing to know exactly what he's going to be worth in a market we don't know yet, a year from now is full of BS. All we know is other young guys who aren't yet proven stars are getting paid like it so there is reason to believe with a good year he will get paid pretty well.

Anyone thinking that either one of these guys is gonna get anything less than 9-10 a year is smoking.... They both have prominent roles on a contending team, they're gonna get paid as such.....

So first DMo fans argue that he doesn't get enough usage. That if he goes to a crappy team he'll get more usage and his stats will explode.

Then they argue that his stats are low because he doesn't play with Harden and Howard enough.

    Which is it?

I'll laugh if someone pays Jones 15 mil a year. "Losing" Jones isn't that big a deal so if some team wants to go nuts, I say rock on.

As to DMo, that's a completely different story. When teams are out there offering him 18 mil a year or whatever, it'll make everyone nervous till they get a long term deal worked out with the Rockets.

Why hasn't he been traded already? Seriously, we don't need him.

We actually do need him till Harrell and Dekker show that they can adequately fill the backup PF minutes. Once that happens, if that happens, you're right though, we wouldn't need him.

Terrence Jones + Jason Terry for Mike dunleavy jr + 2nd round pick would be Good.. probably not going to happen but a 2nd round pick for Jones would be ideal.

Really? A 2nd would be ideal for Jones? There hasn't been any reports saying Jones value has fallen off big time, but since a couple of posters have been going overtime saying he's trash that's what everybody believes now.

Most here thing Motie is worth a top 10 pick(if not top 5), and that Jones is somehow only worth a 2nd(If we're lucky). Crazy value misconception.

All these people "laughing" at the prospect of Jones cashing in big time are likely the same people who laughed at the thought of Tristan Thompson cashing in the way he did.

The market has been set. Jones is 22, athletic, has playmaking abilities, and still has some upside (especially to people who don't analyze the microcosms of his deficiencies like interior one on one defense).

Also not sure why people are so ready to just throw away a guy who was a solid rotational piece for us despite injuries and inconsistent rotations.

    ROFL

KJ just got a 4-5m deal showing no production. Tjones is going to get like a 4 year 40m type deal, probably even more.

KJ got 3.3 over 3 years for a total of 10 mill.

Not that I disagree with you on Jones, just correcting KJ's contract.

I see some other team paying Jones 15 million a year about how I would see some other team paying Kostas Papanikolaou 10 million a year. I'll be happy for the player that they are making that kind of money, and happy that the Rockets aren't the team paying it.

Jones is way better than 2nd rd talent, even in a deep draft class. I'd understand making that deal if Rockets had a strong rotation at PF. But they don't yet.
