I think Brooks appeal was that he played for the Rockets. He was a backup who always played with extra effort, heart and energy. Not a lot was expected of him, and he was liked because he far exceeded expectations often making hustle plays that helped the team.
I recall hearing that he felt betrayed--that Les and Rudy said he had a spot on the team, then we traded him to the Mavs and cut the guy we got in return.
He got into it with Kemp once and tried to run his head into the basketball goal post padding or something. I remember liking him more after that. Wheeee 14yr old bump participation
i remember vernon gettin busy with brooks' wifey on the side, even on brooks' birthday, but scotty didn't know so nobody told scotty

I have a story. I was around 10 or 11. I went to Mac Heik Chevrolet? Calvin Murphy and Scott Brooks were suppose to be there. Autographs etc. They had a basketball hoop in the back. Calvin Murphy was clowning on the kids on another goal, just scoring on them etc. Laughing. I got his autograph on some poster. It say basketball hall of fame, pics of his college n nba days. I still have it i think. Basically I kind of took over the other goal and was scoring on some kid at ease. Then comes Scott Brooks wanting to join in on this game. He basically got in the middle of the game. I went past the kid for a layup and Brooks comes out of nowhere for the block at the goal. (Like Hakeem on Rod Strickland) I remember I got mad. Everyone made a big deal of the play. OOohs and aahhs. Then he basically let nobody shoot , blocked everyone else at the rim. all kids I WANT MY REMATCH SCOTT!
