Jordan is by far the greatest of all time. The DREAM is my favorite of all time. In my mind the greatest center of all time on both sides of the ball. Im taking DREAM.
Just made me realize how much bad luck we have had with injuries throughout our history. To our superstars too.
Michael Jordan is, without question, one of the better shooting guards to have played in the National Basketball Association's Eastern Conference. Maybe that's controversial. Maybe people will argue with that statement, but I doubt I can be swayed from my belief. Put Jordan's stats up against a Hersey Hawkins or a Kerry Kittles, and tell me you wouldn't prefer Jordan.
Tinman just comes off as insecure here. People can have opinions of their own and still root for the Rockets. You don't have to be a blind homer to be a true Rockets fan. Grow up, you act way too childish.
Dude was spamming the hakeem olajuwon africa thread that clutch posted. It's very suspect timing with a suspect join date. No regrets at all. Hey if people want a jordan option they can create their own thread or join the bulls forum.
If michael jordan is the first thing you think about when clutch posts Hakeem's africa post move, then you aren't a rockets fan. That's just a fact
It's facts buddy. If jordan goes to rockets, then hakeem goes to the blazers with clyde drexler and sam bowie goes to the bulls. I'm not responsible if people don't know nba history and think hakeem would join the bulls. The team favored to run with the lakers in the west would be the blazers So eat up this knowledge
Could have had both as a previous poster said. Trade Sampson for 2nd pick and Clyde, roll out a GOAT trio of Hakeem, Jordan, and Drexler. If you had to ask who's the better player it's Jordan though, there's no real cogent argument to support Hakeem, who is my favorite player of all time.
When some says hakeem and you think kareem, chances are likely you are a lakers fan When you hear hakeem and you think jordan, chances are 100% you are not a rockets fan. If this was blackjack, i would double down on this. The correct answer is if clutch posts a beautiful article about hakeem doing the shake in africa, you think of how lucky the Houston rockets are to have him as their best player in franchise history.
Houston would be looked at as a bigger city in America if Jordan won 6 titles for Houston. Houston would be respected as a city by the media
Jordan would have to face a prime drexler and hakeem on portland coached by a prime rick adelman. Getting jordan on the rockets promises nothing except he has to face the lakers and blazers and Spurs etc
There is no way anyone can say this with any certainty. We are debating whether or not the Rockets should have taken Hakeem or Jordan. I think Hakeem. I can't fault anyone else if they say Jordan, he was an amazing player as well. One of the best ever. If we had taken Jordan, then we still would have had Jordan and Sampson. That is a pretty formidable duo as well. Then if the Blazers had taken Hakeem and had him and Clyde, that would have also been a formidable duo. It would have changed everything. It would have changed what other players the teams tried to sign or trade for. It would have changed Hakeem's career. It would have changed Jordan's career. It would have changed Sampson's and Clyde's. We can sit here and speculate all we want, but there is no way to know. In my thinking, Jordan+Sampson=Clyde+Hakeem (Jordan>Clyde, Hakeem>Sampson). Both Portland and Houston would have the potential to be great teams and would have the potential to challenge the Lakers of the 80's. All that said, I still think we made the right choice in taking Hakeem.
Hakeem represented Houston, and brought us our back to back NBA Championships. Many people forget that the collapse of the 86 team prevented Hakeem from winning many more NBA championships. Jordan didn't win anything until Cartwright joined Pippen, Grant and Paxson. And then later on Rodman's extraordinary defense played a very big part in their second run. Hakeem didn't have as much help us Jordan did after 94-95. Hakeem was just as big an alpha NBA superstar as Jordan was. Don't forget that.
