Makes sense that Nike didn't want to pay for Harden's MVP campaign now like those hundreds of commercials Curry got. Wanted to try to keep his price down for his new contract.
My guess is that the media has to pander to the audience (the fans), and the fans of a lot of other teams don't like Harden because of the following reasons: Cleveland - The LeBron "kick" GSW - "They aren't even that good" Dallas - Role player Parsons Lakers - Pissed about Harden being the current best SG + Dwight leaving OKC - Obvious reasons
I also wondered why Kyrie got a signature shoe before the Beard. Kyrie may have a pretty crossover and layups but he isn't a winner. Be interesting to see if Nike matches, you would think Harden stays with NIke if the money is right?
I still remember owning a pair of Akeem the Dream shoes http://solecollector.com/news/forgotten-footwear-etonic-hakeem-olajuwon-signature-shoes/
I don't really buy any of that. Nobody in Cleveland cares about the kick, LA and GSW doesn't give a **** about him, and I think OKC fans actually still like him. Why wouldn't they? Harden is ultimately too boring(read as untroubled) a personality to be that disliked. I could understand him being ignored, same thing we went through with Dream, but not actively disliked as he currently is.
Surprised Under Armor isn't trying to get in on this. Having both Curry and Harden as the face of your basketball shoes would be huge.
Big step up from being a breakfast defector. Good for him, take the money and establish your brand. Outside of LeBron, players with established brands rarely leave the team in which they established their brand of their own accord.
We're did you get that info from? I pretty sure UA only pays curry right under 4mil a year. Nike let him go because they wouldn't match and only offered 2.5mil a year.
This is not even a thing outside of reddit. And not even r/nba, we are talking about the GSW subreddit. I think more people find it significant that an MVP candidate tried to sell them taco bell
I do not want to call you a racist or an ignorant A-holeļ¼ but things you claim are simply generalizing. If you have not traveled around to other parts of the world, I strongly encourage you to do so. At least be open to world news and see what is happening around the world.
Seems like an massive overpay on addidas part and I doubt Nike will match. Where was Harden ranked in terms of Jersey sales? All star votes? the last two years?
I looked at the wrong article, the 285 mil was Kevin Durant 's number. In hindsight 200 mil is pretty good. They could do a style model of Damian Lillard shoes. Adidas is not a bad look
