Ummm we all know that Tracy McGrady is better than Jones... But remember Jones got his contract when he was entering his prime... Tracy McGrady would have gotten a bigger contract if he were putting up the big numbers that he was putting on right now... We all know tracy is going to get a max contract when it comes to him resigning or being a free agent

Houston trades: SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)
Houston receives: SF Andrei Kirilenko (12.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.7 apg in 27.7 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +3.0 ppg, +2.8 rpg, and +0.6 apg.

Utah trades: SF Andrei Kirilenko (12.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.7 apg in 27.7 minutes)
Utah receives: SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 62 games)
Change in team outlook: -3.0 ppg, -2.8 rpg, and -0.6 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Of course Utah wouldn't do this.

So I don't think any trade is going down any time soon.

What difference does that make. Both contracts end at the same time.

It's one thing to say, well 3 years ago, nobody knew. But why would anyone go into it now. We'd be crazy to take on this sh*t contract. It's not 20/20 hindsight. It's from this point foward. And for the next 4 years, we would be taking on a huge risk on a declining player.

That's why Miami can't get rid of his contract. 3 years ago, someone might've said, ok, we'll take a chance he might live up to his max contract. No sane person would do it now.

And I should correct myself, Eddie Jones makes about $1 million less than Tracy McGrady. Jones will average about $14 million per year while McGrady will average about $15 million.

Exactly... Jones got his contract in the r****ded Juwan Howard era when the owners didn't have the luxury tax to worry about and players were overpaid left and right.

With the numbers he puts up today I'd consider paying him $8-9 mil per year. The guy gets hurt every year and at his stage in his career would not be an upgrade over the Cat. Cat is an iron man.

I don't think Eddie Jones is worth much in trade. He's a huge risk, and he's only one guy. This is as high as I would go for him:

    3.6 mil Norris
    7.8 mil Taylor
    1.3 mil Nachbar

    12.7 mil total

These so-so guys over 30 with huge contracts are NOT attractive to buyers in this market. The luxury tax crunch is ON, and only a few GMs are not mindful of it. No one wants guys who are 32, seem to be jinxed, never does much but put up good numbers. Eddie Jones, Brian Grant, Shareef Abdul Rahim, Antoine Walker - no one wants these guys at their price. Too great a risk.

At least with my trade, Riley gets a rotation point guard and power forward, and a small forward he only pays two more years.

The only way I'd entertain a trade involving Eddie Jones would be if Moochie, Mo T, and/or Cato were involved as well as another team. I don't like his contract at all, but it wouldn't be that bad if we could get rid of some other bad contracts we have. As for Rice, he's constatnly on the injured list, let him go...we got Eric

    What about this trade?

    Houston trades:
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 24.7 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 20.6 minutes)
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 16.8 minutes)
    Houston receives:
PF Brian Grant (10.3 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 32.2 minutes)
SF Matt Harpring (17.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.7 apg in 32.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +6.2 ppg, +8.9 rpg, and -1.5 apg.

    Miami trades:
SG Eddie Jones (18.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.7 apg in 38.1 minutes)
PF Brian Grant (10.3 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 32.2 minutes)
    Miami receives:
SF Glen Rice (9.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 62 games)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 67 games)
PG Moochie Norris (4.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg in 82 games)
    C John Amaechi (2.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.4 apg in 50 games)
Change in team outlook: -5.1 ppg, -5.6 rpg, and -0.1 apg.

    Utah trades:
SF Matt Harpring (17.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.7 apg in 32.8 minutes)
    C John Amaechi (2.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.4 apg in 9.5 minutes)
    Utah receives:
SG Eddie Jones (18.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.7 apg in 47 games)
Change in team outlook: -1.1 ppg, -3.3 rpg, and +1.6 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

I'd do it in a second. Then, I would try to sign Kenny Anderson or Rafer Alston as a back-up to Francis and add one more big body, maybe Tyrone Hill or Jelani McCoy.

Forgot that there was a trade almost identical to that one on the previous page. Oh well, I think that the Jazz would probably rather trade Harpring than Kirilenko anyway.

Wow, Jelani McCoy. There's a name no one's mentioned. I think he could be a serviceable backup.

If we can't get AK-47 from the Jazz, Harpring is a good consolation...I like this trade better than the Jones for Rice/Nachbar one.

And Utah pays Jones nearly 3x what they pay Harping for what reason? Plus Jones has 4 remaining years to Harprings 3.

Let's supposed the Rox had already traded Cuttino for Harpring last summer and had played Posey at the 2 and Harpring at the 3 this past season. What would you say to Miami if they came to you and wanted Harpring for Jones?

    This trade will never happen.

Why can't Utah just trade John Amaechi for Eddie Jones straight up?

Utah don't have to give up Matt Harpring and Miami won't have to take the bad contracts for Taylor & Norris.

The Cato for Person deal could interest the Grizzlies. This is on ESPN.com insider...

    Around the League

Grizzlies president Jerry West claims that he isn't done remaking the Grizzlies. "Our roster isn't going to look like it looks right now," West told the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "If we're able to do one more thing, I think we'll have two or three players at every position."

That one more thing is adding a tough, defensive-minded center. West, apparently, has the goods to get one. Wesley Person and Brevin Knight, both in the last year of their contracts, are the trade bait. Can the Grizzlies get a team like the Warriors (Erick Dampier) or the Hawks (Nazr Mohammed) to give up a big guy for more cap space next summer?

If the Rockets are looking to package Rice to get a high priced player this type of move can help keep them under the luxury tax.

Yeah, that's who I want. Brian Grant.

That article about Memphis (yesterday) was interesting. I know we need Cato as Yao-Ming-Exhaustion insurance; but as a backup he's just too high-priced, when Vladimir Stepania (for example) could give us the necessary 18 mpg.

You can't help but think Cato for Person has been suggested, but maybe as part of a bigger trade. I still think the Odom-to-Miami situation will determine trades for Houston and maybe Memphis.

So are the rockets going to acquire eddie jones. There are news everywhere speculating that. An article in Nba.com say eddie jones in not in their plans for the future. So is there a trade coming that I should know of.
