I remember an identical thread just before the season when we expected to finally have everything in place with Yao, Metta, Scola, T-Mac, etc. Then catastrophe happened of course.

Looking at the season OKC just had and comparing our supporting cast to theirs, and this season's West to last, yeah I think we'd make it.

Would love to see the Warriors without Curry lol. Find out what Draymon and Harrison are really worth when someone is defending them.

Lol Dallas? I see them being the worst team in the west.

Very much doubt that they'll be the worst team in the West. Depending on when and HOW CP and WM come back from injury, I see them anywhere from 15-9 in the West.

56 wins minus 16,4 winshares of harden equals to 40-42 record which makes us around 10th seed. But this with Howard and CO being injured too. We'd be around 8th without James, but with others healthy

It's buried deep inside of them at times, but this team has grit. And guys that compete relentlessly like Brewer are difference makers in the regular season. I actually think they'd have an outside shot at it, especially with the depleted Mavs falling towards the Kings/Jazz/Suns tier of teams.

I'm not McHale's biggest supporter but he'd be the right regular season coach for this kind of scenario.

    Fakers
    Nuggets
    T-Pups
    Sacramento
    Portland
    Suns

Probably all worse than South Oklahoma.

100% sure we'd be competing with the 6-8th seeds. No reason to think otherwise.

Last season we would have struggled, but Lawson is a difference maker.

Morey teams have been good or better enough to be on the bubble.

So much superstition in this thread. This might be news to some people, but the comments you type on the internet do not affect the chi of the team in any way. How can there be so much secular humanism in the Hangout and flat-out shamanism in the GARM?

Anyway, I think we're still a playoff team.

    (1) Legit contenders who have injuries to star players often (though not always) don't fall off as you think they would. They continue to run the system that made them good and plug someone else in the vacant role.

    (2) I'm assuming in this hypothetical that it means we get Lawson and Howard in good health. In reality, those 2 are the bigger injury risks. A full, productive season of Lawson and especially Howard makes for a pretty fomfotable team. Plus, we have some pretty good depth with Motie and Jones really coming into their own, Ariza pretty dependable, Beverley giving us some good depth in the backcourt. Harden makes us great, but this is still a good team.

    (3) I'm not expecting the field to be as crowded. It's probably more top-heavy with the Spurs especially getting stronger. OKC should be good again, but Portland and Dallas drop out. Barring some real material improvement in someone like the Suns, I think we have one fewer net competitors than we had last season for playoff spots.
