what the hell are they going to do with fiers if they trade for ross?

any speculated trades that bring back ross should probably include mchugh or feldman or even fiers

You underestimate the value of Kimbrel for years to come, IMHO.

    Feldman prolly.

    Most likely ML to go:
    Marisnick
    Carter
    Feldman

    Most Likely Minor Leaguer's:
    VV
    Appel

agreed. and i love kimbrel but i do not want to give up VV for him.

i'd be willing to do singleton or carter/mchugh or feldman or fiers/appel/marisnick and maybe one of our lower rated prospects for ross/kimbrel.

Closers don't fetch multiple Top 100 prospects.

Speculation is Kimbrel and Ross for Marisnick, Appel, and prospects.

    Looking at it:
    Keuchel
    Kazmir
    McCullers
    Fiers
    Ross/McHugh

    Bullpen:
    Kimbrel
    Gregerson
    Neshek
    Qualls
    Sipp
    Fields
    Harris

We might have the best pitching staff (outside of LAD/GIANTS) in baseball with a lethal offense.

This is why giving up some prospects is justifiable especially when you have others making waves...

Whenever the Astros look at their best Minor Leaguer's next year (top 10)... we will still be stacked.

Ones who you have control of for 2-3 years with stats only comparable to two other closers in the game FETCH top 100 prospects.

It can happen... just not all the time.

Then it will be the first dumb move he's made. If the Yankees won't budge on their short stop prospect then you don't trump their offer by giving away that package. Think bigger when you are trading major league ready talent away. A Marisnick type player can have as much value as an elite closer especially since it's rare that closers are able to consistently perform year after year.

    Ross would be the #4.

I really don't think they are moving Feldman. There's no reason for SD to take him. And one thing's for sure, you can't trade both Feldman and Velasquez unless they covertly have Straily or Wojo stashed in a Houston hotel as we speak. They aren't going to move Keuchel up a day. They'd have literally nobody to start tomorrow night's game.

scratch wojo off too, he pitched tonight.

so unless straily was secretly shipped into town, there's no way both velasquez and feldman are getting traded.

so maybe we're talking McHugh, Marisnick, Velasquez, Appel... that would be expensive even for both Ross and Kimbrel. I'd want a pretty solid prospect back in addition

I don't see why there's still interest in Ross after landing Kazmir and Fiers.

Feldman or McHugh would have to be included.

Appel, Marisnick, Feldman, Kemp, Feliz for Kimbrel and Ross. Maybe VV is added if there's still doubt from SD.

    Keuchel
    Kazmir
McCullers (probably spends August and early September in the pen)
    Ross
    McHugh
    Fiers
    Kimbrel
    Gregerson
    Neshek
    Qualls
    Harris
    Sipp/Fields/VV

Would be the best pitching staff in baseball.

    LMAO!!!!!

You think Kimbrel, of all people, will have trouble with consistency?

    gtfo

You're wrong on so many levels and I'm glad you're about to get put in your place with a move we're about to make. Marisnick is nowhere NEAR as valuable as Kimbrel. Wake the F up.

I thought at first Tyson Ross only had 1 more year. But according to BR he has 2 more club control years. If so I can swallow trading away Appel and Marsnick.

Looks like they are more into working on a deal for just Kimbrel. Which makes more sense.

Please feel free to name all of the closers that year after year have pitched at a high level. I can think of Wagner, Hoffman, and Rivera. That's not a lot. Do you think it's also coincidence that once Marisnick was moved to being our full time centerfielder that we started playing well. This team was at its best when we his bat was also cooking earlier in the year.

So no, I don't believe you give up two of your top pitching prospects plus a centerfielder with plenty of potential for a one inning a night pitcher and that's all you get, then no that's not a beneficial trade long term. A package like that should get you more than a closer, no matter how well he has pitched in his career.
