True. Given his age and miles and even with the cap increase idk that anyone would offer him $30m on the open market. Or at least we should hope.
Forget about coming to Houston, the first question should be why would he leave Westbrook and OKC? After all the stuff they have gone through, those two are brothers. This isn't a kobe-shaq relationship. Bottom line, something significantly negative has to happen this year for Durant to totally walk away.
From searching around... On a team level : Kobe Bryant's AAU team had him, Vince Carter, Tim Thomas, and Rip Hamilton. There was another team that had Ron Artest, Lamar Odom, Elton Brand, and Eric Barkley.
1. The team in Houston would be better and would give him a better chance to win. 2. Westbrick is bailing on OKC as soon as he can.
Probably because Westbrook has an extremely low basketball IQ, OKC probably isn't good enough to win a title, and Houston with Durant is a flat out better basketball team. Lawson/Harden/Howard > Westbrook/Ibaka
I'm an optimistic person by nature. I gave us zero shot at trading for Harden. I would love to be wrong but I also don't care atm. Our team is nice. Let's win a title and choose who we want to drape Rockets red.
Lebron had already won elsewhere, Durant hasn't. That really does make a difference. Also, Lebron had the luxury of going "back home" to a Cavs squad that was going to be stacked. At the rate Durant is going, he'll never win a championship.
Truth. Last I checked, neither Durant nor Lebron won a title last year. We have a damn good squad and need to focus on righting our ship instead of hanging our hopes on the stars. The title is within reach!
How would Ty do to DC with Durant next summer? Ty's under (what amounts to) a team option? The only major piece we don't have control over next summer is D12. Harden and KD talk smack to each other all the time too whether it's in game or just practice. I recall the video of them at practice on last years USA squad going at each other. Can't recall if it was that practice but I remember Harden jawing at KD and KD just said "shut the **** up". I think these guys are just competitive when they're playing each other (real game or not) and I'm good with that.
I remember seeing Ty Lawson (went by Tywon back then) play for Oak Hill Academy right here in Houston at the Academy National Invitational held at the Campbell Center in Aldine. One of the quickest guards imaginable, scored at will.
I give it less than 50 percent he stays in OKC. OKC is a small market, chooses money over championships(harden trade), and is not loyal (trading away Harden and firing Brooks.).
