It feels like they are in panic mode because the Stros are great now. A team clinging on to small wildcard hopes, trading for the future, and beating out all current contenders at the trade deadline for the top arm available is pretty unheard of.
Agreed. Hell, Rangers should be selling as well right now I'm sure they're just thinking Hamels is the type of guy they'd have tried to sign as a free agent anyways... but trading any valuable prospects is highly questionable for a team that is more than just a "few injuries" away from being good again. Looking forward to Hamels first start in 100 degree weather there...

Least surprising thing ever. Didn't want to be here. Now Jeff can go dangle some of that for Price or Ross (or whoever he wants).
The funny thing is, he's going to a team that could be right where the Phillies are now in just 1-2 years (especially if their GM keeps trying to "chase it" and trades away all young talent). And then does he get to make a new no-trade list to replace this out-dated one?
Luhnow just spotted on tv. Did not appear to be on the phone, but instead was watching the game. Could he be scouting Pujols and possibly even Trout (from the bench)? Could something be in the works???111eleven
The rule used to be that on a certain date each year players could update their no trade list. Usually the no trade list wasn't places a player didn't want to go, but teams that were very unlikely to be in a financial or competitive position to trade.
