Christian's Tailgate Sports Bar & Grill 2820 White Oak Dr Houston, TX 77007 That's the location of one that my friend owns (everybody go to that one ), there is 3 different locations.
Had my first Smashburger today. It was good for a thin burger patty. I give it a solid 8 out of 10. Will return if in area.
All the trendy new burger places that pop up... I had Beck's Prime today for the first time in a long while. I'm sorry, but that place always did and still does kick ass. Burgers are unique, flavorful, nostalgic and delicious. Freshest, quality toppings. Egg buns are great. Fries are pretty close to perfection. Shakes and malts are as good as shakes and malts can be. Love that damn place and never think to eat there. It's become looked down upon by burger snobs and underrated for no damn reason.
Southwell's is my personal favorite. Can't go wrong with Beck's Prime or Christian's Tailgate, though.
There's a place in Pasadena (CA) that makes a really good burger. It's called Slater's 50/50. The deal is that the basic burger there is half ground beef and half ground bacon. You can customize and name your own burger by choosing what cheeses, sauces, toppings etc. to put on it. They have some topping choices that you won't find other places including their homemade bacon ketchup. I don't know that it's the best, but it is really good and worth checking out. Actually the best is still Father's Office.
Old Fashioned Burgers. It's at Orem and Hiram Clarke (use to be called Chief Cajun Snack Shack and was located at Southmore and Live Oak). Biggest burgers in Houston and for a cheap price (8 to 10 bucks). You can't finish it in one sitting. If you're doing pickup, they bring it out to your car.
T-Bones might be my favorite restaurant period. Love the backyard. If I'm getting a burger though I'll go to their other restaurant, Tookies. If I'm on the northwest side I go to Lunch at SAMs. They do a great job too. I love me some elevation burger, but they're pricy for the size IMO.
I hadn't been there in 20 years until I went last year to see my wife's cousin's band, Hill Country Jane, play. I didn't even know about the backyard. Super cool place. I didn't know that Tookies was owned by T-Bones. Exact same burger? Haven't been there in 20 or so years either and when I last went it didn't make the crazy impression that T-Bones did.
Bubba's is the only buffalo burger I've had that wasn't dry. Somehow consistently tender despite low fat content.
