How much will garnett be available to get paid next year.. I know he is making 28000000 next year so for sure any team that tries to get will have to beg him to come and play for them... As far as i know Minesota will be the only ones that can pay him and extremely big contract...

what on earth makes you (or anyone else for that matter) think that garnett will be getting a pay raise?

    think about it, please.

    first, stop yelling.

second, KG wants to win, and has already stated he will take a pay cut if necessary to accomplish this goal. i mean, c'mon man. do you really think you can field a team where one player is making 3/4s of the damn salary cap?

    use the noodle.

Good news is KG will get a HUGE contract from the Wolves..... Bad news is, he could win the title, season MVP, playoff MVP and will still take close to a 10M pay cut......my guess is 20M to start and not too big of raises.

Guys, you're really being a little unfair to the thread starter here...he's not saying that the Wolves would pay him as much as they could, he's just curious (and I am a bit too) as to how much is possible to raise him under the current rules...

I recall reading something a while back about how if he got the maximum extention he could, he could get paid something outrageous...

We know that he won't get it, but this is just for kicks.

Garnett's maximum payscale exceeds the standard maximum due to a grandfather clause covering anyone with huge contracts before the new CBA was written.

Garnett's max salary is 105% of his previous salary....which is what? $30m or something.

Minnesota can exceed the cap to pay him that, but all other teams would need cap room to pay him that, unless Minn does a SnT.

1st. A pay cut for KG may not be needed in order for Minn to field a championship team. The Wolves have a complete team right now.

Kandi, KG, WallyWorld, Spree and Cassell.

That is a pretty damn good starting five.

Hoiberg, Hudson and Johnson can give them some decent play from the bench.

So if Minn gets to the WCF or wins the championship this year and KG wins the MVP do you think he would take a pay cut if all of the Wolves peices are in place?

2nd If the rest of the starters are Cassell, Spree, Wally and Kandi then I don't think it matters what KG makes.

    Too much.

Under the C.B.A. rules, couldn't he get something like 40 million a year? Ridiculous. I'm sure the Wolves won't do it, but they could, and that's scary.

heyp, after his 105% starting salary, is he eligible for the 12.5% raises at that point or does he have to stick to 5% raises? i'm guessing the 12.5%. in that case, he gets 29.4 next year and then about 3.675M raises.

over seven years, i think he could get 283M, which is the 40.4M ZRB mentioned. that's just ridiculous.

105% is not a "raise," per se. It is just a maximum salary allowed for his new contract...whether it's with Minn or a new team.

Actual raises for that new contract are covered by the same rules as normal...12.5% for current team; 10% if he moves teams.

btw: what did A-Rod get, or whoever is the most paid player in MLB.

10yrs, 250 million - but he deferred half that salary till the end of the contract - so it's more like a 20 year deal.

As far as I understand it, anyway.

Heypee, can he get the 105% from another team? I imagined it would travel with his Bird Rights and that another team that wanted to take him away in FAncy without Bird Rights could offer only the standard max. Is that not so?

don't think too hard about this. It is just defined as a player's max salary, period.. A player's maximum allowable salary is independent of Bird rights. Bird rights is an exception that allows you to exceed the cap to pay up to the player's max.

The max salary for most players is defined by yrs in service--just like minimum salary. Players with pre-new CBA contracts that exceed the new CBA's max scale are capped at 105% of previous year's salary.

KG is just posturing to get more money out of the puppies. He isn't going anywhere, Minnesota can pay him way more than anywhere else. If New Jersey plans on structuring itself to make a run at KG, they are niave, and will be played.

Remember that New Jersey offers something Minnesota doesnt... Since New Jersey is in the weaker conference... New Jersey offers a trip to the finals every year.... And if New Jersey were to get KG... No one in the Eastern Conference could stop them... And if Zo gets to his Normal self again.. The Nets are going to have a strongest frontline in the east... ill take KG over KMART ANYTIME... I would let KMART walk just to make a run at kg... so i do think that New Jersey has a chance even though KG would have to take a huge paycut...
