Definitely taken out of context, he was referring to the fact that he's leaving his family and not bringing them to LA.

He actually took less money to go to LA than he would have gotten in Houston, IIRC.

If he was a Rocket still, he would remain eligible for Dwight Howard's charity program: free Skittles for life to every member of Josh's family.

I think the article is misleading, but you can make your own judgement.

Not as hard as making free throws apparently.

He was definitely talking about the money. If you listen it's very clear in context

Isn't he with another team now? I sure hope he was talking about the inconvenience the move will be for his family, which I could understand. If he isn't, I'd have to shake my head with disgust.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it will be hard on his family because he saves a significant portion of his salary.

He's never been great in interviews though and this was a terrible response however you frame it.

This is a dish thread. He is not on our team anymore.

I honestly don't get the hate, aggressively, or passively-aggressively. He came to us, gave us a good season when injuries struck, and spearheaded some historic moments that will be remembered in our franchise. Move on. He wanted consistent playing time, and we couldn't offer that. Clippers could. Simple.

Like you haven't said a stupid thing in your life before?

The point of this thread was to see what others thought about what is meant by his statement. It could be about being away from his family but it seems it could be about the money.

It was a statement about the money. I can understand being disappointed in his budget reduction: he's making close to half of his Detroit salary. He just shouldn't have said anything.

Regarding the family and moving interpretation, he kept his family in Atlanta when he signed with Detroit. Why would it matter now? He planned on being in Detroit for 4 years. I'm sure he wants to keep Atlanta as his home.

I think it's funny but a bit out of touch, like most Josh Smith interviews. He is a good guy but seems to get nervous when asked questions and doesn't like speaking on camera.
