I just heard this on the news flash on 610. According to the report, he would be reinstated in 2004, would be eligible for the hall, and would not have to admit anything. Official sources are denying there is a deal, but the publication is sticking by its report.
I like how he agrees to do interviews (to plead his case) and when he gets rattled by a couple of negative questions, he gets defensive and says he doesn't need to do interviews. He said on ESPN Sunday when people hear the name Pete Rose, they think of baseball first. Riiiiiiight. They don't think cheater.
Since it appears this actually will happen at some point, I hope Bud Selig rots in hell. Putting Rose in the hall for his on field work, but acknowledging his tarnished legacy is fair. But Pete has no business being back in baseball for good, just since Lindner wants him to manage the Reds. Interleague play was bad, laughing at the success of oakland and minnesota last year while owning the hapless brewers is bad, making the all star game worth homefield in the Series-worse, but...... Letting Pete Rose back into baseball=if true, is Selig's worst idea ever. Edited as baseball denies the Baseball prospectus story for the moment.
