As far as sports games go, besides Madden, I think I spent more time playing Ken Griffey Jr baseball (the original) and then later MVP Baseball (2005). Those were some seriously addicting games. Was a sad day when EA lost the MLB license.
Wow, I forgot about this one too. I was addicted to part 3 and "christ airs". <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5ru1KnlRP14" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Oh hell yes. I was a god at this game. I would destroy any of my skater friends even though I could barely ride.

Clearly X-Com: UFO Defense. As far as I'm concerned, X-Com is still a strong candidate in the running for best game of all time. Though I also really, really liked Streets of Rage 2 and Powerball.
My Super Nintendo still works so I still play Mario Kart, Super Street Fighter and Killer Instinct. When I babysit my niece I let her play the Little Mermaid game and Kirby Avalanche.

Yes. Granted, old article, but when a major media outlet says X-Com is still the best PC game ever 13 years after it was released, you know there's something there. Then also consider that a less strategic, less deep remake of said game garnered multiple Game of the Year awards (Giant Bomb, Kotaku, GameTrailers) only 3 years ago. I might consider Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, and Dark Souls on-par with X-Com. But I won't say better.
