I figure there are two major groups of people here: 1. Guys in their prime who still play a lot of ball, and 2. Guys who used to play ball a lot but at some point, just started playing less and less until one day, they found themselves spending a lot of time online critiquing players on TV, having not touched a ball in years. I can point back directly to the day I stopped. It was July 2001, and I was playing a full-court game on asphault, wearing lowtops. I went up high for a rebound, and someone decided to undercut me. I don't know how it happened, but the part of my body that landed first was the top of my foot opposite from the ball of the foot. I must have I ripped all the muscles off my chins, and sprained my ankle so bad I couldn't walk without a lot of pain for about 2 weeks. I've played a few random games since then, but it's been sparse. I knew things were different when, having been married for a month, I realized I hadn't even picked up a basketball since I started dating my wife. (more than a year) Anyway, the short version is that I've been playing at least twice a week for the last month, and I've definitely got the bug again. Everyday I think about the next time I'm going to play, and I keep surprising myself how well I'm doing. I'm far from past my prime - only 25 - but I was wondering who else has made similiar comebacks. I know there are cc.net games semi-frequently. Anyone else come out of retirement?
Any game you're expecting me at will have to be between Aug. 22 and Sept. 1. Unless anyone wants to get on a plane to Utah.
I resumed a court career about six weeks ago after almost a five-year layoff. Ouch! I'll be 50 on my next birthday so double-ouch! However, I have really enjoyed coming back. This lunchtime game has held together since 1975 with me (now) and another guy being originals. Monday, Wednesday, Friday at Noon... Geezer Basketball.
Let's all chip in 5 bucks for a plane ticket to send YoYao over here. Or, perhaps corporate sponsorship could be in order as well. "Fly Delta airlines, the airline that gives you the most fomfotable traveling experience!"
I haven't play ball for a few weeks now since the hot houston weather can kill u if u play outdoor, and it's hard to find a indoor ball gym in sugar land.
YES!! Indeeeeeed. lets get this pick up game going cause I didn't really get to play last time @ the smeggy smeg tour.
Today was a very nice day to play basketball! 74 degrees with a little wind.....very nice. I wish it were like this morning every day. And are you still a Posey Posse Outlaw?
