I really liked Season 1 of Broadchurch, especially the finale which was amazing. But Holy Lord, was Season 2 bad. It almost ruins Season 1 since it's partly a continuation of the storyline.

I only scrolled down the first page, but if nobody mentioned HOMELAND then please let me recommend it. Very good with powerful stuff from Claire Danes

The Tutors and Borgias from Showtime were both pretty solid shows....

The Borgias is fantastic. Too bad it was too expensive for them to complete.

Pablo Escobar series is good if you're okay with it being in Spanish and relying on subtitles

I second that. I think this series is just awesome. I can't wait for the next season. Another similar show I like is Rectify.

Me and the GF really liked 'Peaky Blinders'. Only two seasons so far but they're working on a 3rd.

Irish family running a low income town after WWI.

Marco Polo by Netflix was pretty cool, hoping to see a second season soon.

Longmire - Seasons 1 and 2 were ok. You had more stand alone episodes and not much of a of a overall story line, but still ok. Season 3 was better than seasons 1 and 2 with more of a overall story line. Netflix took over season 4 and the show took a HUGE step forwards. I really hope there is a season 5

I think Marco Polo is rather underrated. Feels like a Game of Thrones fantasy epic with even less fantasy elements than GoT. Just replace it with martial arts and awesome historic set pieces.

I recommend River. Just came out last month. It's a British detective drama where, ironically, non-Brit Stellan SkarsgÄrd totally nails the part. You'll know exactly what I mean.

    Only 6 episodes.

If you liked Broadchurch season 1, this is on another level.

Just watched S1 of yet another British police drama called Happy Valley. Again 6 episodes.

    Hit the spot.

I've watched all the seasons and for whatever reason I like the show but don't you find it odd all this crazy stuff happening in the middle of nowhere? I mean you'd be safer on the south side of Chicago!

Just finished the second season of Happy Valley and mid way through the season of River. Both highly enjoyable but finding using English subtitles helps since occasionally the heavy British accents are hard to understand and we miss some of the excellent writing as a result. Great acting and character development in each.

Of course, any discussion about Netflix must include Jessica Jones.

Chuck - its not really a traditional drama since it has quit a bit of humor mixed in, but I found it to be a fun show well worth the time to watch.

Surprised nobody recommended Sherlock, Luther, or Black Mirror yet.

Those 3 are the best thing to come out of British TV ever and they are all on Netflix.

If you watched more British TV, you might feel differently.

(But I gotta say that Luther is right there).
