Just wanted to jump in here that I predicted KJ's salary at 3/10 a couple of days before the announcement. =) <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/BimaThug">@BimaThug</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/BenDuBose">@BenDuBose</a> all along I felt the Rox probably looked at KJ deal for 3/10.</p>— Chris A. ....so given that Lawson will probably see a lot of time when Harden is not in the lineup, I can see Lawson, Brewer, and KJ McDaniels absolutely wreaking havoc on 2nd stringers. I mean, they are going to be a GREAT backup unit. Also - does anyone else see KJ as kind of a poor man's young Andre Iguadala?
Yes on KJ but without the PG vision and ballhandling skills. KJ's ballhandling is pretty goot but not on AI's level. His vision needs some work but I would rather have him finish in traffic than dish. Similar skillset but different mentality. Hopefully KJ will have as good or better defensive impact as AI does. AI developed a serviceable shot and ability to create for himself and others when needed. AI also a good dude and great work ethic supposedly like KJ. Fun Fact: Iguodala was drafted in 2004 the same year as JR Smith and Josh Smith (brothers from another mother). I watched a show or documentary on the 2004 draft class before they were drafted and AI was way more mature than either of the Smith's and was as level headed as they come. He almost seemed like a grandpa compared to JR and Josh who were both out of high school and completely ignorant and immature (mainly JR). Not much has really changed although Josh gets a bad rap for his bball IQ I don't think he is a bad dude but I always associate JR Smith and Josh Smith with each other because they have so much talent and were drafted in the same year out of HS but their bball IQ held them back from becoming all star type players. Slow and steady AI has reached the pinnacle and has solidified his place in the NBA while both Smiths are still searching for their identity and teams. It is a amazing what a good work ethic and stable mind will get you in life. Hopefully KJ is cut from the AI cloth and not the Smith cloth.
seems like KJ is smart.. taking a 1 yr minimum last year showed his confidence on getting a deal this year because he knows who he is as a man and a player
If he got drafted by a playoff team, I am sure he would not have taken that 1 year deal. He saw the scrubs 6ers had and believed in himself.
well Glen Robinson took the same chance at a bad team as well (Minny) and was left without money and with no security.
I'm sure he is starting - my point is he is the perfect guy to lead the 2nd unit. This team is so thin on playmakers that our 2nd unit could hardly score unless they got a turnover by gambling in passing lanes. Lawson changes that assuming he doesn't self destruct.
I think he likely is. Reminds me of the quote, "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard". Lucky for KJ, he has a little bit of talent too.

I haven't seen any confirmation on the 3rd year and whether it is a team option, player option or no option. I think I would prefer no option but not sure that is the case.
repost but so much fun last two are perhaps the best <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zOiliGsq-ZA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Bima is right yet again. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">The numbers for KJ McDaniels for Houston Rockets: $3.19 mil, $3.33 mil and $3.48 mil (team option last season, not player) <a href="https://twitter.com/BBallInsiders">@BBallInsiders</a></p>— Eric Pincus (@EricPincus) <a href="https://twitter.com/EricPincus/status/623974380880592896">July 22, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Fantastic. To be honest, I was a little disappointed when I heard it was a 3 year deal with no options. I would've preferred a 4 year deal to get the most out of him or a 2 year deal to make him restricted again. Now we have the flexibility to make him restricted again or keep him on a low 3rd year salary. Great work again by Morey.
Kj mcdaniels 3rd year in his contract is a team option meaning if they decline it, he becomes a RFA again in 2 years
@BobbyMarks42: 2015-07-23 01:18:55 UTC More credit to HOU. Looks like the contract for KJ McDaniels has a team option for 2017-18. So 2 years guaranteed at $6.5m.
