2 Ks for Wags after the infield single. The only fitting end to this game would have been a strikeout. Still, a win is a win! WAY TO GO STROS!!! Miller wins, Wags saves, Bigg HRs, Kent gets a 2 run double. Good guys prevail in Chi-town!
tough part of the series gone, now a sweep is not out of the question. especially since we get to skip prior too
What a game by Miller when we needed it most. This was a great win for Houston. For some reason I was expecting the worst during this series at Wrigley. Good start. Kerry Wood still gives me the chills after he fanned 20 Astros a few years ago.
Naw, the tough game isn't gone yet. Zambrano has been killing us this season, and I dunno how successful our knuckleballer will be if weather is windy for the 4th game. The Robertson game could be iffy too, all depending on whether the ball will hang on account of the wind. I'd hate to see a bunch of hanging knuckleballs being knocked out of the park though. So still none of the games are easy, but all are definitely winnable. It'd be nice to see the Astros take charge for once, and kill the spirit of Cubs, as well as any momentum they might be trying to build up.
Why was it questionable? It clearly hit the foul pole and bounced into the stands. Replays showed this. The Cubs announcers said it was a home run. There was no argument from the Cubs bench.
I didn't get to see the Cubs announcer. From the replays I saw, it was hard to tell. Its probably just me though, my eyes have been blurry lately.
Great game by Miller. This game had such great pitching. Glad we won it. Next up is Redding and Zambrano. Let's go 'Stros!!!
That homer by Biggio looked like it hit that green pole to the left of the foul pole. Only one camera angle was able to show it, and both Brown and Deshaies immediately recognized that the ball was foul. You could tell they were doing all they could to not blurt it out.
I caught the Cubs broadcast on the MLB Extra Innings pakage and the Cubs announcers were the exact opposite. Both Stone and Caray (boy is he annoying) were stating how the ball was clearly fair. To me it looked like it banged off the left of the foul pole and then caromed down and to the left (as you look at the pole) into the stands in foul territory. Also, not a single Cub argued the call that I could see.
I thought the ball pretty clearly banged the left side of the foul (fair) pole. We now have 7 players in double digit homers, which isn't bad. We should have 5 guys with 20+ homers this year, not too bad. Big game by Miller. Nice to see him show up like an ace- he didn't have his location, but his stuff was filthy most of the night, and he battled through. I thought that was one of the best I've seen Dotel- he went through his 2 innings with ease. It's nice that Lidge/Dotel have 2 inning capabilities, so we can rest one or the other if need be. Hopefully Redding will have his head screwed on straight. In other news, Astros signed Mitch Meluskey...I'm not even kidding. They assigned him to AA. The Hun says if he plays well, he'll be in line for a Sept. 1 call-up, as a bat off the bench.
mitch meluskey was not a bad offensive player with the astros...it was like 15 home runs not playing full time...but then he didnt find his groove with the tigers in the astros trade for ausmus.
