I thought many times during the last two episodes (particularly the latest) that I really have no idea what is going on plot wise with the murder investigation.
Aborting this ****. I will only come back when they bring in a real showrunner that know how to be coherent.
Just not a very good show. That was some really bad dialogue, story structure, and acting. I think that's it for me.
Yeah tonight was not very good. They took a long break from anything meaningful for absolutely no reason, and when they finally got back to it, it was basically a big cluster****. Very disappointing. Frank makes absolutely no sense to me. I can tell I'm supposed to care about him, but I don't. He could die right now and I wouldn't bat an eye.
It is impossible to take Vince Vaughn seriously. I'm too stubborn to just quit watching, but it's safe to say they failed this season. Just not a good show on many different levels.
VV and his wife scenes are killing the show at times.. i wish things would speed up. i want more holding on to chair moments.
Next week seems like it'll be the more interesting episode. This one, outside of Ray revelation, was more set up due to the flash forward....
This wasn't a great episode. Things got a little better when they went to the shack but those Vaughn scenes are dragging the show down.
I actually felt like this was the first episode that felt like a detective show. Maybe they should have started it from here instead of confounding everybody with 4 episodes full of confusing subplots.
I agree...there is no mystery or leads. 1st season kept giving us bones wanting us to come back for more. This is just ****ing stupid.
This thread is fantastic. I watched Episode 1 the night it premiered, found it pretty average at best and have been reading this thread every Monday, waiting for the "Finally! This show is awesome!" before I tune back in. As this has not happened yet, you all are stopping me from wasting time on it. Shame, as Season 1 was so damn good...
The dialog is just so bad. Everything is forced and dripping with pretentiousness. BLUE BALLS IN MY HEART! Vince Vaughn was just a horrible choice for the Frank role, but I don't know if anyone could have saved it with how poorly he's displayed.
My wife and I watched about 25 minutes of the first episode. I knew it wouldn't be anywhere near the awesomeness of Season 1 but of course I was willing to give it a chance. I wasn't getting into it and I knew when my wife sighed (I know that sigh) that it was time to vacate "True Detective". The dialogue was horrifically stilted and, as mentioned in other posts, pretentious. Episode 1.....Vince Vaughn's henchman says something about a business associate, "But don't worry, this can't touch you," and Vaughn says, "I can't believe how naïve you are about this," and Kelly Reilly actually admonishes the henchman as Vaughn her husband stalks off, "Everyone gets touched".... I went Bill the Cat on that one: BLARF! Maybe the writer Nic Something Italian will right the ship if given a future season but he screwed the pooch with this one. About the only thing this show has going for it is confirmation that Rachel Adams has a seriously nice bunda.
