He's still young, and now that he has a top-tier surrounding cast, is there a possibility that he can develop into a reserve allstar?
The West is just too stacked at guard. Don't see him getting a reserve role over the likes of Curry, CP3, Westbrook, etc.
If he put's up last years numbers while having the best record in the league, I think he has a shot. 10 assists on a championship caliber team is nothing to sneeze at.
I agree. If one of the elite PG's goes down around the all-star break, he's got a great shot. 16pts and 10 ast is elite level. He's 3 ppg away from averaging what CP3 averages.
He's never made an allstar game before and now he's joining a team with 2 all stars in Harden and Howard, his stat's will take a big hit (efficiency should go up though) so i'd say there's almost no chance.
west is too stacked Curry - GSW CP3 - LAC Westbrook - OKC Parker - SAS Lillard - POR Conley - MEM All 6 PG would rate above Ty Lawson but I think he's number 7 in the pecking order. So we went from having one of the worst PG in WCF to middle of the pack. In a stacked Conference that's pretty good!
His shots will likely go down so no but he's never played with this much talent and is used appropriately could average over 10 assists per game. Imagine him in the pnr with Howard/Jones Or off the bench passing to Brewer on the break Or hitting Ariza in the corner for three And of course he and Harden giving team fits with their penetration like LBJ and Wade did.... So many possibilities...
Gotta also remember that it is just guards that get voted in (no distinction between PG and SG). So not only would be be competing with Curry, CP3, Westbrook, Lillard etc., but also Harden, Klay, Bryant (who may get the fans votes) and the other shooting guards in the West as well. In short, though you could make the claim he might deserve to be there I highly doubt be will.
he very well could if the rockets record is tops in the league. he could end up being even better then people think if he is around better players. could end up playing a little harder etc.
I think he is what he is at this point in his career, but that's a pretty good wheel. He's consistently in the top 15 Point Guards and the 16 and 9 are likely here.
the PG position is stronger then it has been than maybe ever in the NBA. night in and night out you have to probably have a decent one to really contend and dominate no matter how strong you are at other positions. the season just got REALLY interesting. what makes it even more so could be all the different players that the rockets could throw together to get an upgrade at the SF or PF position.
No, he's definitely a top 15 pg in the league, maybe around top 10. But he's exactly what we need at the PG spot, a second perimeter creator. Hopefully his defense can improve like Harden's.
