Anybody having trouble with this game? I get dirty disc errors (even though the freaking game is brand new) every so often with this game when it goes to the loading screen, and the only way to get rid of it is to erase all my saved game files (dynasties, profiles, even the damned rosters I worked so hard to make).

I have read variouis explanations, from the fact that the game is a bad copy or that the game doesn't work on older xbox's, to the fact that I really should just clean the DVD drive. EIther way its a pain because that's one of my favorite game franchises (and my cable is out and it's been raining a lot here lately).

DId anybody else run itno this?

I have the same problem. The game worked perfectly until a week ago when it started freezing up during games. I deleted all my saved game files and it still freezes occassionally. I'm going to try cleaning the DVD drive, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn the game doesn't work well in older Xbox's (I bought mine in Nov '01).

Well for whatever its worth, this weekend I brought an Action replay system and downloaded a roster with all the names filled out to a memory card, and have been saving all my game files to the memory card rather than the hard drive. That seemed to do the trick as it doesn't crash anymore. It takes longer cause its a card and not the hard drive, but at least hours and hours of naming the players and hard fought Dynasty seasons will not be thrown away again.

I haven't had any probs, I bought the game Saturday morning. I'm playing dynasty mode with the Horns. I've got OU tonight they are ranked number2 while I'm number 4. Should be a great game. I tried playing with the Cougs but I could never get any good players to come there so I switched to the LongHorns.

Yeah, I started one with Rice bc I thought it was fun to run the wishbone and option on every play rather than turning every series into an LA-Rams style pass fest as most computer football games turn into. I won the SIlicon Valley bowl my second year despite having about zero talent and ended up with coach of the year. It got MUCH easier after I took my crappy QB out and started putting in WR's, RB's and DB's in at quarterback to run the option. That's what coach of the year selections are made of...

I got kind of bored with Rice though, so after I got the action replay card and the real rosters I started one with Texas and am playing Ohio State for the NC tonight in the sugar bowl. I lost Vince young (who is better than Mock in the game, IMO, he's quicker and throws harder) agains K State in the big 12 championship but that shouldn't be any problem.

    I believe it's a portable hard drive.

The injuries in the game are sometimes unbelievable. I lost Benson and Young to season ending injuries...I must be doing something wrong.

Heh, heh, you have to buy it, but you have to use real money. It's a little device that attaches to a memory card on one end and a USB port on the other, and allows you to dowload/upload/etc xbox game saves from your computer. A regular memory card is like 20, and the Action Replay that comes w/a memory card was like 35 bucks, so I saved myself the trouble and bought the action replay.

Alternatively, if you already have a memory card, there's a guy who goes by the name "Fairdale Kings" (he made all the downloadable rosters) who will put them on the card for you and send it back if you mail it too him with a self addressed postage paid envelope for a small donation.

If you're getting dirty disc errors, its probably not something wrong with the game. Try this:

I got dirty disc errors for a brand new game I bought for the XBOX. I read on some messagee board that you should set your clock and calendar to the right time and date. Once I did that, they errors were a LOT less frequent.

I think it might work best if you unplug your XBOX, then plug it back in and it'll take you directly to the calendar. Try it out.
