If Dwight Howard could hit FT's he'd be one of the greatest C's to ever play the game.

In that context, we'd win 6-8 more in the regular season if he misses time, and obviously be the best team in the league.

But that's not the Dwight we signed, nor was Dwight ever that player. He cannot and will not hit FT's and I wish we would stop whining about an inevitable outcome.

Who cares about Regular Season, we had the 2nd seed anyhow.

I still don't understand it. A professional basketball player should be able to improve his FT shooting over time. Hakeem somehow managed to do it - in the prime of his career he shot a respectable FT %.

are you asking how many games win if dwight was a 70% ft shooter and still got 10fts a game?

Hitting them in practice and hitting them in the game is a totally different thing. Dwight's issue is psychological, not skill / practice. He has a mental issue with free throws.

I can't think of any regular season games we have lost due to Dwights free throw shooting. But we absolutely lost game 1 of the WC play-offs against Portland in 2014 due to Dwight's free throw shooting. We had that game safely in hand until hack a Dwight. That series went down hill from there. As good as Dwight was in that series, his free throw shooting cost us an opportunity to advance.

Having to pull Dwight out of games at key points because he can't shoot free throws didn't help us in certain games against LAC and GS either. Probably cost us a game or two.

Needless to say, Dwight would be a much more dominant player and the Rockets would be that much more of a difficult team to beat.

When you realize how close the first 2 games in the WCF was and then you seen Dwight and josh fts....its frustrating... We could've been up 2-0 coming time if the could've hit 7 more fts combined

If Dwight had better ft's, Harden can play pick and roll with him at the end of games instead of all iso's.

Hard to tell. Most of his trips to the line are due to hack a Dwight and that will definitely stop.

I wonder if the team has looked into getting a sports psychologist. Low cost investment for a potentially big payoff. Free throws are clearly a mental issue for Dwight, Dmo, and to a lesser extent Jones.

A psychologist might also help Dwight control his emotions in game. Right now he's an easy target for players that antagonize him to get a reaction.
