[ESPN] Mark Cuban says expanding playoffs would 'keep things interesting'

The season is 20 games too long. The playoffs are one month too long, but lets add MORE games.

Maybe make the bottom 8,9,10,11 teams have a mini tourney for the 8th seed in each conference. Just a one game tourney. It would give the real teams a much needed rest too.

Then extend the lotto by those two spots. So this way teams all the way down 11 will be trying to win games to at least get the extra revenue for playoff games. We know that does factor in for a lot of teams.

Terrible idea, there are already too many bad teams that make the playoffs.

I'm in favor of contracting the playoffs from 16 teams to 10, abolishing conferences, and taking the top 10 best teams. Make it happen Cuban.

This idea would really devastate Eastern teams making the playoffs that should b in the lottery.

Abolishing conferences is a better solution.

I know. I stopped following him on Twitter because of all the CyberDust ads. But salesmanship is how he made his billions ( to read him tell it).

 

We don't need more teams, just better seeding rules and remove West/East difference for playoff spots.

It's hard to stomach so much blatant in your face promotion, but I think that the app is useful.

 

What a ****ty idea that is. The beauty of the NBA and NHL is that, at the end of the season, you feel more confident that the best team won the championship compared to the NFL and MLB.

The NFL's system allows for upsets by way of a lesser team having just one good game and often leaves a team that would likely win 3 of 5 or 4 of 7 out. In the MLB, a team just needs a small hot streak and to ride the back of 1 or 2 good pitchers, not be good top to bottom.

Best thing the NBA did was make the first round a 7 game series.

 

To be fair, Top 16 teams in the NBA (regardless of the conferences) should play in the playoff. In that case, Mavs are probably in.

 

The undesirables aren't invited to the party, Mr. Cuban. The Rockets suffered great injuries and made it to the Western Conference finals.

 

Gives a stronger incentive to tank if anthing. Makes the odds better on the lottery picks for the other ten. This would make your odds nil for the top pick if you're one of the four teams being added to the playoffs.
