Neither Griffin or Piatkowski are natural 3's and Boki is. Both Griffin and Piatkowski were signed as role players to fill out the roster. Boki was drafted to be a big time contributer. Only time will tell.
I think Bostjan will be the serious contributor this year that we hoped for last year. I was sympathetic to his plight last year because he was struggling with hernia repair. Several board members, including me, can attest to the degree of diffculty for recovery. It takes months just to take a step without being reminded of your manhood. I couldn't even contemplate running back then. All that is needed now IMO is a little confidence in his outside shot and defensive instruction by team JVG and all will end well. We will have our big, defensive, mobile outside inside threat.
Boki has potential and the Rockets perfer him to TMo. Letting Posey go shows the Rockets either thinks he's too expensive and/or they have other options. I have a feeling Boki will play a lot more this year.
i think what we've seen (summer leagues and the acquistions/sought-after acquistions) all point towards Boki once again being a far-end bench warmer. thinking he'll contribute anything this year is a far stretch imo, and i'd rather put hopes on moT and eddie becoming serious PFs
yea, Yao's video game buddy, so Yao won't be lonely when Francis and the rest of the gang go clubbing and hook up chicks
I don't know why folks would think Adrian Griffin and Eric Piatkowski would push Nachbar out. They're not terrible players, but they're not quality starters either. If Nachbar is competing with them, he was drafted way too high. I think that this season he shows real promise for the future or he's gone after his 3rd year. My hunch is he'll make something of himself this season.
We do need him... bottom line is that we will need a quality 3 in the near future to make a run. I think people are just resigning themselves to the fact that Boki may not pan out. It's not the worst thing in the world if he doesn't work out... mid-first round picks are not always money in the bank. Other teams liked him too. But with every draft comes high expectations even though the reality is that barring exceptions, a draft pick's likelihood of making a huge impact drops dramatically from the top 5 on.
Glen Rice is our starter. Pike and Griff will get most of the backup minutes and Boki won't sniff any playing time untill Rice goes down.
If that summer league display is any indication he'll go the way of Langhi and TMo as soon as his rookie contract allows it. That was pitifull, I was hoping to read how he tore it up there. Even Langhi and E.Griffin tore it up there and we know the offensive powerhouses those 2 are in the NBA.
