I think Thornton is going to be really nice here. A lot of guys do tend to thrive in this offense and I actually like his game. I think this is a win for sure. Especially for a minimum deal. I'm feeling this move.
Wow. Thornton looked great in that video of him scoring 42 points! I know that sounds like an obvious thing to say, but what excited me most was that he looked like he could be deadly in our system. The Kings don't run much. Those points could come more easily for him the way we play.
Absolutely ecstatic with this signing. I've always wondered how our offense would improve with a combo-scoring, sharpshooting sixth man and now I have my wish. And at the vet minimum. The puzzle is almost complete...
At Vet minimum, there's not much to hate about this signing. Hopefully he has a hot hand the whole season and the playoffs. Would be a huge help off the bench.
Thornton was on fire that game. Even more impressive because he was playing alongside ball dominant shoot first point like IT.
You don't see how a good volume 3pt shooting guard in a 3pt shooting happy team who can explode any given game for 20+ points could change things for our team?
I can't wait for him to get a few 3-pt fouls with that leg kick of his and the media will just start jumping on the hate train, haha. Great signing for the vet minimum. Low risk high reward and fits right into the system.
The Bayou Bomber is going to feast in our system. There will be many duds, but many 20+ point performances as well.
Reall like this signing. At worst, he'll be a serviceable as Delfino was in our system which was very solid.
Josh Smith was almost uselss in his previous team, and helped the Rockets lots after joining new team. The team chemistry is important for some role players, so I expect Throton is going to be a good addition to the rockets just like what Smith did last year.
Define good? If Curry burns him for 15 while he scores 9, is that good? Just saying situationally he can be useful and for a vet min signing that's just fine. But he's an awful defender and can't really guard the 1 or 2 (slow lateral movement/undersized). I'm OK with the signing again - but this is a guy who has played replacement level basketball since basically 2012. It's not something to get that excited over.
I doubt he'll be holding curry much. I don't know if he's a great player, but I think it's a great fit. I think he provides something that we didn't have. A guy who can legit spark it up off of the bench. In a situation like this I expect him to be better than he's been in his previous few situations.
Hope you guys are right - he definitely has the potential to explode. Just worry that in the playoffs it would be difficult to hide him on D.
We'll see how he fits in, but for the veteran minimum this is a high reward, no-risk move. He's still young and used to light it up. Seriously, no one should be able to criticize one-year veteran minimum signings. They are harmless.
