I am not going to get into a debate over whether he is garbage, but I will just say that he is not a good basketball player and does not help the Rockets cause.

Why do you say he isn't?

His last good season was 2 years ago in Chicago and since then he has been either mediocre and below replacement or catastrophically bad. He can't guard a desk chair.

I'm not going to get into a debate either. You don't have to agree with me.

Agreed. He adds very little value.

Because I disagree that he is garbage. Simple. :)

I like Bima's suggestion re: Augustine. Keep Papa for another deal, and get DJ for Prig and Johnson/Dorsey. Prig, Dorsey, cash, and a late 2nd seems more like a Morey move than Prig and Johnson.

I would agree he is not garbage. He is probably a slight upgrade over Prig and Terry. But I hope we can do better. Personally I would rather have AB or Blake.

He's a PF that can shoot the 3, we shoot too many 3s to be interested in a guy like that at PF

When it comes to the PG spot, you should absolutely trust Morey. He is known for collecting undersized PF's but he is a stud when it comes to finding undervalued but very talented PGs. He is the same guy who brought in the following:

    Aaron Brooks
    Kyle Lowry
    Goran Dragic
    Jeremy Lin
    Pat Beverley

Not all panned out like we wanted, but all have had substantial impacts and value to their teams, and not just with the Rockets. I would give Morey the benefit of the doubt when it comes to PGs. The offseason has just started, and Morey is far from done.

They would probably sit Parsons and Matthews out for half the season as they return from their knee and achilles injuries. Doesn't seem fair to keep Dirk around on a tanking team after taking a huge paycut either so maybe they trade him.

I don't understand people calling DJ Augustin garbage... He is a career 37% shooter from 3PT line and is more than capable of playing back-up PG minutes for Rockets. I agree that he is probably not good enough to be a starting PG for a contender, but he is a good solid back-up PG to have around.

His per 36 min stats for 2014-15 season:

    14.2 points/game
    6.5 assists/game
    2.7 turnover/game

Compare with Pet Bev stats per 36 min

    11.8 points/game
    4 assists/game
    1.7 turnover/game

Of course Bev is a better defender and rebounder, but I think DJ Augustin can be a serviceable back-up.
