I could see the Mavs poison pilling KJ. At least enough to make it very uncomfortable for us retain him. You know they'd love to share their misery with us and they sure don't have much to lose at this point. Should find out soon if they're gonna go 76ers style full tank mode. They need to be rather awful to keep their top 7 protected pick and I'm not even sure if they've met the salary floor yet. Watch them rest Chandler and Wes under the guise of returning from injury.

Dallas Espn Radio talking Mavs should rebuild. Saying they should trade Dirk , and Parsons so they can get a lottery pick lower than 7th pick . If not lower the pick goes to Boston for Rondo trade.

How does Augustine NOT move the needle, especially assuming we retain Smith & ideally Jet? You're then basically adding 2 PG upgrades to our WCF team. That moves the needle IMO. Bev/DJ >> Jet/Pablo.
How few wins do the Mavs need to be in the top(or bottom) 7? For frame of reference, the Nuggets had the 7th pick this past season with 30 wins. The Pistons were 8th with 32. Can the Mavs with Dirk, Parsons, and Matthews(if healthy) suck enough to win 30 or fewer games?
It's possible. They may have to trade Dirk and/or Parsons if the goal is to ensure they keep that pick. Either that or sit Parsons and Matthews for a long while(i.e. more than necessary) til they've fully healed from their injuries.
