i would be surprised if JSmoove didnt join a contender. would show winning is not that high on his list.

when josh came here the first time, he mentioned he was trying to get over for a the past few years. so i feel like if we want josh back, he will be back. thats if josh really wants to chase some success and not some money this time

He would cost $17M & $18M against the cap in 17-18 & 18-19, plus mean we had no other avenue to keep Smith, beyond the $2.5M non-bird raise offer.

No way should the Rockets match a poison pill for KJ.

Does anyone really think a team is going to want to pay KJ 12 mil a year for 4 years?

no one is signing KJ McDaniels to a deal that will pay him 17 and 18 million 2 years down the line on a 50 game sample.

Interesting. Maybe crackpot? But, if so, interesting crackpot.

BTW - - speaking of reports of coming over, what ever became of Mario Huertas? And what is 'his game'?

NO team can pay kj 12 mil for 4 years because it's against the cba. But for the team poison pilling it's how it counts against their cap.
When I see scrubs getting 7 and 8 per and I know this is even BEFORE the FIRST cap rise then yes I think some GM maydo it.

Fortunately there aren't many teams left that have the abillity to do it. Portland and Dallas and Philly I think only.

That's what I meant, it would count against their cap 12 mil a year for 4 years. All most teams should care about is cap hit, so that's all I really take into consideration.

Because they already moved out Dudley, Malakas. Like I thought they would.

Yeah, it has. 3 quality bigs. Two of the 3 are rim protectors. The third big is Mr. Versatility with the ability to run PnR, PnP, post-up or spot-up in the corner. Two playmakers. And everybody else defends and shoots. Today's NBA.

I get that the full MLE would have to be used either way, but again... what's the point of the poison pill.

The "poison pill" by definition is back-loading the contract for cap purposes to benefit the team resigning him. Only in RFA, when Morey used it, it hurt that team because they were over the lux tax already, and it would have killed them that last year with the contracts they had on the books.

Now if you are referring to front-loading the contract to hurt the Rockets, I don't know if that's possible. And I don't know if anyone is willing to pay KJ McDaniels essentially 15 million dollars against their cap next season if that's even possible under the CBA.

The Rockets had success with the poison pill before because with the Knicks/Lin that 3rd year was at the highest point of Amare/Melo/Chandler's contracts. They would have been in lux tax hell.

For the Rockets, if they are paying KJ 15 mil in 2017/18, maybe that's a risk they prefer to get a discounted year 1 & 2.

If they gave KJ a 3 year deal with the 3rd being the max then the average would be about 9.4 million. I count Dallas, Indy, Philly, Portland & Utah with that kind of space.

This time? He left Atlanta because they didn't offer him a contract -- they didn't even offer him a QO, did they? He didn't chase the money, he had the opportunity to be a central focus in Detroit and he wasn't invited back to Atlanta. I don't think he ever chased money.

If OKC matches on Kanter, and needs to shed salary, I wouldn't mind trying to get DJ Augustin to compete for backup pg

[Lowe] OKC will likely match, + then look to deal Novak/Augustin/PJII for $0. But POR is forcing their hand. Lots of teams were rooting for this.

Augustin due 3 million for 1 more year. K-Papa for Augustin?

Could see Morey moving K-pap for Augustin and PJ III.
