"and id be doing my self and every member of this band a disservice if i didnt play the HELL out of this thing!"

one of the best SNL skits ever.

interesting stuff, but what was that? your ethnomusicology thesis?

since were sharing, maybe ill post my senior thesis on guatemalan banana production. never in my wildest dreams would i have ever thought that i could write 25 pages on the subject. i even have a really neato power point presentation to go w/ it.

You and me both. He's got sick chops and some of his poly-rhythms make my head spin. Beauford is nice!

Isn't that how the song "Pretty Fly For A White Guy" starts out?

Aye. They paid Def Leppard some amount of money to make use of it. The voice belongs to producer and defiler of Shania Twain, Mutt Lange.

I hear ya man and Smegs...thanks for this thread. codell, there is a reason we don't use more cowbell in our songs. You see, the cowbell is a lot like cocaine I am told. The more you use, the more you wanna use. You start off with a little subtle cowbell but the song feels...hollow. So you add a little more. You recognize instantly that it sounds better so you put a little more in. Then you think, 'you know what, that guitar is getting in the way of the cowbell.' So you take out the guitar track. Then you think you have a borderline masterpiec. Then one of the guys from the band mentions that the bass seems to be taking away some of the cowbellian ambience. So you lift the bass. Ditto for the keys, the balance of the drums, and the vocals. Well somewhere in this process you notice that, 'Hey, this isn't even a song anymore. It's four guys banging the **** out of cowbells and they are not even in rhythm.'

It's like a trance you get caught in. You never know when you've gone too far. The cowbell has a tremendous effect on an arrangement. It can take over before you know it. Now I like the cowbell as much as the next guy, shoot, probably more. But even I recognize that too much of a good thing is not always good. What's the old saying?

    Everyday can't be your birthday.
That wouldn't be such a treat.
You can get tired of chocolate icing
    if that's all you eat.

So Smegs and codell...we've temporarily backed of the cowbell. It was taking over our lives.

    Chance

PS-But keep your ears peeled on the new Rockets song we are doing...there might be a surprise in there.

PSS-Do you guys know that we are doing some non sports and non funny songs? like real music? Here is a song about getting hammered and choosing licquor over life. One more Round

Chance has decided to let us REALLY know why he has not been posting much. The truth is he was in therapy for an addiction he had. At one point it was thought to be a simple addiction to CC.net, but it was deeper than that.

I would have never known without the new CC.net Poster Decoder V8.3. I ususally do not reveal the results, as I spent money on my my software, but this is somewhat of a public service to you all...

We are here for you Chance, and we understand the pain you have endured. Way to go on the smiley free post, and welcome back  :D

  Oh my, I need another bump - - :)

    That is pretty frickin funny.

For some reason, I can picture you at halftime of the Laker game with Ferrell in the background going crazy with the cowbell and pissing you off. :D
