So...I keep a close eye on the weather, and I've been watching as this front pushed through towards the east (completely missing us). Anyway, like other fronts, it's pushed a bunch of precipitation in front of it, and a good size mass kind of got pulled into the Gulf where it's sitting.....and appearing to spin....right below Lousiana. Seeing as Allison pretty much surprised everyone, I'm just curious.....does this have anything keeping it from turning into something tropical? http://www.weather.com/maps/news/atlstorm2/gulfofmexicosatellite_large_animated.html
He's telling the truth, I live in sugar land too, and there is a piece big ass cloud right above my house.
I just checked out channel 2's doppler radar. It looks like a monster cell going directly south right down hwy 6. It's the only sign of rain in the city. www.click2houston.com
i know what your talking about, when a front swoops down and blows up in the Gulf, theres a name for it, its not tropical but when it lingers in out in the gulf for more than a few days it can become tropical in nature. downdraft..something like that,.. mcfclark would know. we get a lot of those during oct. and nov. and some do stick around the gulf and bear watching.
