Yeah, judging from the pic, that kid is definately pumped up with steroids/growth horomone! He looks like the freaking Incredible Hulk! I think I'll start shooting up with 'roids to grow to 7+ feet tall, as well! Seriously folks, height is determined entirely by genetics and to a small extent, environmental(your diet). I'm not saying growth horomone has zero effects on height, because it can add maybe a few inches....but, there's no way you can turn a person genetically pre-determined to grow to a height of 5'7 into a 7'0 giant. I don't care if you pump a crapload of the stuff into somebody's carcass, it ain't happenin'! Just look at Yao's parents, that's why Yao grew to be 7'5.

You guys are speculating stuff here. What you see in America are mostly Chinese from the southern part of China, where people are typically short. People in northern China are much more taller and bigger. For example, there is a lot of 6 footers or plus strolling around Beijing. With vastly improved nutrition over the last 20 years, the Chinese are getting taller and bigger every year. Expect to see more physical specimens coming from China in the future as a result of China's development.
Absolutely correct Panda. Most Chinese in America are from Hong Kong and Southern China. They tend to be shorter and have darker skin. Northern Chinese tend to be taller and lighter skin. When I was in Beijing and Shanghai, I felt right at home since I'm 6 feet tall and so where a lot of guys there. Oh yeah, there were many beauties around 5'6" - 5'10" too!

Chinese from northern part of China are generally tall. Many actor and actress from the northern part are about 6' tall. With 1 billion population, I have no doubt that China has many 7 feet-tall guy.

yeah, that's why yao's parents had to follow the same rules as everybody else in the country and obey the one child policy china has. if they were breeding athletes, wouldn't they encourage tall people to have more kids and let them be an exception to that law? if they were breeding athletes, yao's parents could have started an nba franchise by now with a whole roster full of tall kids. but instead, they only have one 7'6 nba player. they could have had more kids, but they had to follow the same rules as everybody else. so these conspiracy theories are really ridiculous.
