Cyber, Do you have any idea if Morey is trying to move in onthe PG log jam in Boston? (I am a Marcus Smart fan and try to project my own agenda onto Morey) Thanks
Must be the Llull fallout. You know Morey won't make a stupid signing, so they just have to play the waiting game in terms of trades now.
Its kind of interesting that the Rockets would outwardly project being down in the dumps to the point that it can be sensed by outside parties.
Down in the dumps because we didn't do anything. Not saying bringing back Brewer and Beverly is bad. But no LMA, no llull, No pg upgrade and we got a ton of PF's and SF and no starting pg. I'm down in the dumps too. Bad offseason. Didn't even draft a pg and still don't even have a backup. I know Morey had a plan but this is certainly not at all how he hoped it would turn out
Did they really think they were gonna lure Aldridge? The Spurs were always the frontrunners. Llull rejecting them was a disappointment, but I would hope Morey knew that was a possibility and had a contingency plan. At this point, just resign Smith and Terry. And try to work out some sort of deal for a PG with T-Jones and a few other assets.
surprised to read down in the dumps, would have thought morey & co. mapped out plan B's n C's in case LMA and llull didn't materialize
that's a very bold statement from a coach who hasn't even coached one preseason game of the team about a unknown rookie. WOW Yes he's gone. To where? Btw I don't think it matters the "down in the dumps" it most likely means being secretive because they are about to play the game of chicken with many other teams about Kj.
Holy hell what in the world could they be down in the dumps for? Did they completely forget they made the WCF??
I think He means theyre down in dumps as in down by the trash offering trash like Mo Williams contracts etc.
Im positive they realize that. If I had to get inside their minds I would say though that they see "Legit PG" on a different spectrum than most fans on here do. The biggest example we can take a step back from and compare is the Mo Williams/Lebron/Cavs past situation. When you put Mo Williams next to Lebron, the ball still ends up in Lebrons' hands when they are on the court together because Lebron is the better option to create. That's a big reason why Lebron went to try and play with DWade as he thought that could be a good way to take pressure off of him. Obviously Mo Williams wasn't doing enough the first time. Even then in Miami, Wade really just took turns with Lebron instead of making his life easier by having Lebron off-ball. They still never solved those issues for Lebron, and it wasn't long before they figured out that their best option for winning was giving it to Lebron as much as possible to create. That's been the biggest challenge for Lebron, and that will likely be the same for Harden as its been the past couple of years. You want to save him, and make life easier for him, but its incredibly difficult to find a running mate that you can take the ball out of Lebron's hands, and make Lebron and the team as a whole better off because of it. I think its truly remarkable that we are actually having this dialog though because its crazy how good Harden is that this is an issue. But I totally think your concerns, and my concerns are also very much concerns for Morey & co. reg Harden and just as anyone who has GM'ed for Lebron has had. How do you make his life easier, decrease his workload, and continue to make your team better in the process? Take a step back and think about that for a minute... is THE ANSWER really going to be Rodney Stuckey, or Mo Williams? (I don't have the stats in front of me, but I'm pretty sure Lebron's best running mate as a PG was Chalmers when he was hitting shots, and not making stupid plays.)
I wouldn't worry too much about finding a PG. TJones, Dekker, and Harrell are all valued as first round picks (albeit mid to late ones). Not to mention the fact that the Rockets own all of their own first round picks going forward. Throw in the fact that they have KPap and Prig's salary as filler I'm confident that if there is a trade that Morey feels can improve the team he will be willing and able to do it with a combination of all these assets.
As a fan I am anxious as well. But I would think that their "down in the dumps" would have a single or couple sources, I can't imagine it is due to "total failure". Surely they didn't think the LMA was happening or even Love. I think the lions share of folks here even thought that was a pipe dream. The only move/strategy to me is Llull. I think Llull really gave signs it was almost all but a foregone conclusion and then pulled the rug out, but took his own sweet time to do it leaving us scrambling. That would be my gut feeling.
Don't take this down in the dumps stuff too seriously, them not talking to cyberx or his people does not imply that 'they are down in the dumps'. I'll believe that the front office is despondent about their off-season once someone tells cyberx that this is the case. But how could they if they aren't talking?
Does this mean no Josh Smith? Yeah the rockets probably offered Denver... Papanikolaou, Jones, Dorsey and Prigioni for Lawson. That trade works money wise but too bad it ain't that easy huh!
