Thanks. I think it's only a matter of time before Josh Smith joins the Kings. His absence will hurt us a lot. If we can get Amare with the vet minimum plus get a decent PG with the MLE, we will be all right. It's not going to be easy unfortunately. Thanks for the update Bima.
i think indy and phoenix should pose the biggest threats right now to give him a 5 per contract. Indy has problems on their frontcourts and they want to compete. they should try to trade for david lee but not sure if he fits now. And they don't have contracts to send back to gsw. Then there's phoenix that has pissed off kief and has no bench. btw this list is nice to also see who may offer mcdaniels a deal.
Just sayin..... With all the scrubs and whatnot getting paid more than Harden, how bad does it look for Detroit now cutting him, when he could be seen as an easy trade chip lol?
The more I look at this the more it makes sense to sign Josh Smith for the full MLE. We have to be realistic, even without taking into account Smith's contributions in the playoffs, the MLE is a very nice deal for a decent rotation PF. Aron Baynes makes nearly $6MM per year for crying out loud. Also, the kind of guard/playmaking help we need will most likely come from a trade. Stuckey will not be the deciding factor in us winning a championship, and I'm a fan of his. The only real negatives I see with giving Smith the MLE, after Llull decided not to come over, is a) we can only sign Harrell to a 1 or 2 year minimum deal and b) we have almost no shot at retaining KJ McDaniels. The Harrell contract won't be a big deal since I doubt he'll ever see enough time in those 2 years to prove he deserves a large contract. I don't really see a way we can keep McDaniels unless he bets on himself again and takes our ~$1MM one year offer and goes back into free agency next off season. My guess is that most teams offering him contracts will be offering essentially mid first round type of 3 or 4 year deals. If we have injuries (or trades) next year that deplete our wing depth and he tears it up in limited minutes then he could earn himself a fat contract when the cap goes up next season, as opposed to remaining on a smaller longer contract.
If Sacramento really is no longer a player, I like our odds. We could sell him the fact that he was the second highest usage player last year. Stay get lots of playing time on a contender. Get lots of playoff exposure and see next year if you can improve your stock enough to cash out. Maybe even give him a one and one.
Nice idea, but no one is coming cheap this season. I would be stunned if Morey got him for the vet minimum.
So theoretically we could trade just KPap for collison straight up and SAC could free up enough space to offer Smith a $5m deal. Essentially giving up smith to get collison cheap. Not saying either team is incentivized to do it. But that's a possibility.
If history repeats himself, no matter what he said, josh smith will go for the money even if with a subpar situation.
This is a good point. To have Josh Smith, Beverley, Brewer, Ariza locked up for what will be less than next summer's MLE is a coup. Those are all really solid rotational players. It looks like a PG is most likely through trade anyway so I don't see why we should risk Josh walking. He clicks well with Howard, seems to be committed to winning here and still has at least a couple of good years left in him. I say offer him the full MLE for two years with team option on the second year. That way we can look to renegotiate next summer and have his early bird rights to go over the cap.

I'm on the fence with TJones .... He has all the tools to be a very good 4 , I just wish he was more decisive. It's like he has to stop & think first. When that happens defenses have time to adjust killing the flow of the offense. The game just doesn't come natural to him. I completely agree you cant have Dwight & Smith playing big minutes because of their FT shooting ... Then you have Dorsey and Harrell isn't a very good FT shooter either. Thing is that if you don't resign Smith or someone else capable of soaking up those minutes behind DMo you cant move Jones for a point and he's the guy most would be comfortable moving in such a deal. Or you have to get a point and a 4 back in that deal .... but how likely is it that you get an upgrade at the point and a capable 4 in return for Jones , salary filler and draft considerations ? Neither Dwight nor Capela can play the 4 ... so you likely need three capable players there. Can Harrell contribute out of the gate ? If so DMO , Smith or another FA (Scola , Boozer , STAT) may be enough there. If not .... can you afford to move Jones for a point ??
next year jones + dmo will cost at least 26 millions. and we will be after durant while other teams will be talking to them and offering max offersheets because if you want a rfa you must overpay. (so yes even jones can get a max next season). and every team next season must overpay because every team will have tens of millions of capspace.
