I never said he was bad. Just he shows flashes of brilliance and flashes of looking lost out there. Defense is about knowing your assignments and putting the effort. It's why DMo can be a good defender inspite of lacking athleticism. I do think RH is a better prospect but it's still speculation. And admittedly I could be way off. Bottom line is I want McDaniel to succeed and I want to resign him for a reasonable amount. I hope both happen
Brewer seems to do pretty good playing with Harden and Howard. How do you think he does it? KJ has shoots 29% from the 3pt arc Brewer shot 28% from the 3pt arc very strange how that seemed to work pretty good
He played so little in Houston because of Ariza and Brewer that he didn't log a single meaningful minute. How can you even begin to analyze what you saw from him in Houston. He was damn good in Philly. As a 22 year old I expect him to only get better. Nothing at all suggests he has peaked. And lets face it, he has shown tons of brilliant flashes on defense.
Point(s) well taken; of course there was an injury that kept McD out of the p/o's. I truly do not have a handle on what I would give the guy nor how much I want to retain him. Nor do I have a handle on how/where he would play on this squad - - perhaps a rotation b/u 1/2/3? Or is he insurance at the 3 to effect a bigger trade w/TA? I will assume that much of that will be cleared up w/in the next 10 days or less.
The perfect scenario...., Smith resigns for the $2.49M Non -Bird- Tender Resign McDaniels using a portion of the MLE ($1.8M - $2M) per year Resign Terry for the veteran minimum Hope Stuckey wants to contend and signs for the rest of the MLE($3.6M - $3.4M) per year Trade Papanikolaou/Prigs/Johnson/Dorsey/ two 2nd round pics and the rights to Llull for Lawson And then pray that Dekker really is Parsons 2.0 and becomes that stretch 4 we need against teams that go small. Keep Jones/Capela/Dmo at all cost Don't even think of trading Ariza Lawson/Bev/Terry Harden/Stuckey/McDaniels Ariza/Brewer/Dekker Smith/Jones/Harrell Howard/DMO/Capela Let's play
Stuckey had his first positive year. Huge jump in 3pt%. Fit in better than ever before. Sign him, I'll take him. Or is there an ace up DM the GM's sleeve waiting to be played? Might Llull be trade bait imminently? Or... ???
What do the analytic folks say about Lawson? I think he's a poor fit, but do TheChuckster's antitheses agree?
McDaniels won't even be in the rotation. But you're going to pay him a big contract and risk losing out on a more proven player? He better take a portion of the MLE or go Our window is now with D Howard able to opt out soon Plus you got Ariza/Brewer locked up for 3 yrs
Is Lawson at the the point in his career where he'll be okay having third billing for the sake of winning?
Why do we need Lawson and another guard (Stuckey, etc?) There are only 96 minutes in the guards position and Harden is already going to get 38 of those. Figure Lawson, per se, would get 32 minutes and Bev would have to get at least 20. That only leaves 6 minutes for whoever. With Brewer in the fray also, there is no point getting another guard if we get a Lawson, Collison, Lowry type player. Stuckey would be almost an after though and why would he choose to play here, if so? Our primary focus should be to find an upgrade at either point guard slot. Trade for Lawson, etc to boost the starting and Bev to be back up or find a suitable back up for Bev.
if giving up jones and mcdaniels instead of nickj and kpaps is all it takes to get lawson and stuckey then I'm down with this
Did you not see the Warriors kick our ass 8 of of 9 times? Green Smith Barnes Ariza Iguodala Brewer Thompson Harden Curry Lawson Livingston Stuckey Barbosa Beverley Bogut Howard Ezeli Motiejunas Speights Jones Lee Capela
Ariza / Brewer locked up means nothing. Either could be moved for a more significant player. If someone like Bledsoe, Lowry or Lawson become available the Rockets will likely need to send out either Brewer or Ariza in a trade just to make the dollars work. We have seen it time and time again. The Rockets drafted Aaron Brooks who seemed like he would be stuck on the bench behind 3 other proven Point Guards. In the end Rafer was traded for Kyle Lowry because Aaron Brooks proved to be a better player than Rafer. Steve Francis and Mike James were moved as well. Plus, KJ has value in the league. If he has a contract of 3 years or less for MLE or less then Daryl can move him easy and probably get a lot of value for him.
This,4-5 mill would be a steal in the new CBA.This dudes has a high motor ,he plays defense, elite shot blocker and can create his own shot. Plus 4-5 mill will be dam near a minimum contract in the new CBA .
