Love and Special sauce Cody Chestnutt String cheese Incident Keller Williams The Polyphonic Spree Al Green Howie Day Robert Randolph Nickel Creek Liz Phair Los Lobos + 50 more http://www.aclfestival.com/schedule.html Sept. 19-21. and 3-day tickets are only $70!!!!! i think i might have to go.
I just came across this yesterday. You can bet your ass I'll be there! There are at least 30 bands there I'd like to see!! And probably many more that I'll love too!!
God, I have the worst story about last year's festival. My friend and I saw tickets for sale on the Nickel Creek website that said "Austin City Limits," so naturally we thought it would be the show. We later found out it was an even better deal--six stages, tons of great acts (including the Blind Boys from Alabama!). After the 90 minute drive from Waco, the hour walk from the parking garage, and the two hour wait in line to get tickets we'd already paid for, the box office said they never got our order--they had no tickets for us. I sure as hell wasn't going to risk having to pay twice (fortunately, the bank stopped payment), so we walked another hour and drove home. And that was the worst day of my life. Presumably they'll be more professional this time around; they evidently miscalculated the demand to see loads of great music in AUSTIN, TEXAS, and something like twice as many people as expected showed up, and those dips had people who had already bought tickets online standing in the same line as people who were buying at the box office.
i went last year and will be there again. i have nothing but good to say about the whole affair, and im a picky concert-goer. it could not have been smoother, as far as im concerned. the only thing is that you have to exchange your ticket for a wristband the 1st time you go. i only waited for about 15 minutes, but i did hear that some who came later waited for a really long-ass time. there are plenty of restrooms and i never had to wait for one. there are shuttle busses that take you from downtown to zilker. they are running non-stop so the lines are never too long. not to rub it in, but if you bought them back in march they were only $30 for 3 days. all in all, i dont think that it could have been done better and this being the 2nd year, it will only be better.
I went last year. I'm not going this year however. There will never be anything that can top the Arc Angels reunion show to close out the festival. Lance Armstrong himself came out on stage and introduced the band, beer in hand. SALUTE!
i'm pretty sure this is Jack Johnsons first show in texas. i've wanted him to come here for a couple of years, and now he will finally get to show up w/ a bunch of other bad-asses. it's almost like bonaroo 3 or something. had i known who'd be performing back in march, i'd gotten tix for sure. as good as $70 is for a 3-day ticket, $30 is f*cking unbelieveable!!! that sort-of price is unheard of - especially for a festival such as this. right now, this is like a dream list of performers; at least for me!
THE ACL FESTIVAL!!! With, RON HARPER! ATL's JAMAL ANDERSON! His brother, in name and surgically repaired ligament lineage, DEREK ANDERSON! Also featuring, JAMAL CRAWFORD! AL HARRINGTON! AND SPECIAL GUESTS ... THE PRICE BROTHERS, MARK AND BRENT!!!! With your lovely host, DANNY MANNING!
I'm in the same boat. Tickets in hand or no, I'll be there with monster truck force, even if it means storming the gates. I inquired about the VIP package, here's the email I got back: "The VIP area will have complimentary beer, food, tables, chairs and SHADE, less busy port o potties, and various other perks. You'll get: 4 tickets to festival with access to VIP Area Access to Viewing Platform (first come/first serve) at Feature and Texas stages 1 Reserved Parking Pass 4 Official Festival T-shirts Sunday Night Headliner CD 2 Official Festival Posters 2 Official Festival Hospitality Packages (additional festival merchandise)" All of this can be yours for the low, low price of $1500. Hmmmm...I week for 2 in Costa Rica, or this...tough call. Does sound good though.
My friend's band(well....former aquaintance), Endochine, is playing. I just might have to shell out the chaching to check out this lineup.
Off topic, but still Austin music related... 4-5 years ago I saw Woody Harelson during SXSW at Manuel's and had a few drinks. He was pretty cool until some one bumped into his girlfiend and he over reacted.
