Collison would turn us into an elite team. It would be amazing if we could land him and then have Smoove and Stuckey split the MLE
Sure, scenery can make a difference. But if you blindfold me and ask if I'd rather (1) someone who has been an average to slightly above average 3 point shooter for six consecutive seasons, or (2) someone who has been woefully abysmal for seven and above average for one -- I'm taking the former. And I think your second paragraph is why we fundamentally disagree. I think the best option would be someone who can create not only for himself but for others too -- that's where GSW had us beat, IMO. They had multiple guys who could not only get their own shot off, but could make things happen for their teammates, too. We basically have one, and I just don't see that as sustainable. In a perfect world, I would want them both. I think a secondary playmaker and a reliable bench scorer are both needs we have, and I think the two of them fill those needs, respectively.
People have been saying we can get Lawson, Collison, Bledsoe etc... Come to CYBERSEX Clutchfans thread where all fantasies are possible!
They're both good players that would improve the team. Injury is also an important factor & that's a big reason as to why I'm leaning towards Stuckey. Regardless if we get either, someone still needs to be added to improve one of the following: 3 point shooting PF play (aka not Tjones)
I don't get the same feeling I did when I saw Brew chilling with McHale a couple days ago. Two meetings with the Spurs and him still being indecisive says a lot. Wouldn't be shocked if he went back to Portland at this point.
Collison overall career FG% is 46.5% averaging 16 pts. Stuckey overall 42.5% averaging 12.6 pts. Stuckey isn't that much more of a scorer. They both averaged about the same minutes in their career but Collison averages 2 more assists. Plus he is 2 years younger. I would be happier with either but I'll take Collison's more consistent jumpshooting.
Some people always have their hands in their pockets, it's more comfortable. People here are reading too much into everything (think Doc only joked, but some people in this thread do not).
Can somebody point to me why everyone thinks we still have a chamce? I can't seem to convince myself that we are still in the running
Do we have some slight proof that we have a chance at all? All I'm seeing is PHX SAS and POR..it is not the same as when we got dwight
Yeah I saw that but it is hypothetical at this point..it's a big IF he chooses us..then again i still dont see any signs pointing to us at all
I think it comes down to these additional meetings and perceived indecision. In other words LMA's heart really isn't into one team or another which means he can be persuaded. And as Bima illustrated there is a reasonable way to construct this team without losing Ariza, Brewer, DMo, or Bev. In other words a big three with even better role players than the Heat had. You know Morey has already laid it all out for him, the big three WITH depth, the better money/no state taxes, closer to family, and how his mid range shooting/pick and pop will work like a charm with Harden. Logically the Rockets make the most sense in all facets. A quick decision by LMA would have been an emotional decision. So hopefully LMA is a logical man and makes the logical choice.
Imagine LMA dropping back-to-back 40+ pts against playoff opposition. Then imagine Dwight going for 15|20|5 and then imagine James going for ringing in triple doubles like it ain't no thing. Complimented by Mr. 94 feet and Lord Athreeza. I believe
