Don't understand why a player would take a two year deal which many believe he may do.

His teammate Wesley Mathews just blew his Achilles and although he got a nice pay day, it still could be a big over pay as that injury is the kind that can put the nail in the coffin to an effective NBA player.

Aldridge has the best long term future if he chooses the Rockets.

Signs Max this year, and you open up the possibility of bringing another great player in as the cap jumps.

I would agree, but there is a third scenario - we lose our FAs without getting Aldridge be morey does not want to tie up money for next yr bc of durant. Acts what I'm afraid of.

Of course, maybe the answer to that scenario is lucrative one yr deals with all our FAs. I can see that working for smith and brewer, but bev should lock up as much guaranteed comp as possible.

We can only match bev and kj. Smith and brew cant be matched for all amounts. If brew gets a 9-10 mil offer cant be matched.

Who wanna bet that the suns will ask for second meeting too?

That would be great if it were true, but it's really not.

Morey is not going to sacrifice flexibility for Durant or horford to tie up beverley or brew to long term money.

The offers Brew, Bev, Smith, and McDaniels get, as well as the timing of those offers is critically important.

You do realize all the talk about Durant is purely fan driven right?
I have heard nothing official about the Rockets planning on going after Durant....there is even less chance of him coming here than there is for Aldridge.

Horford? I haven't even heard much talk from the fans about Horford at all.

Basically, you are applying fan fantasies to what you think the Rockets will do.

My scenarios are more likely than the fantasy stuff you are using to claim I am wrong. I don't deal in fantasies, just realities.

Listen. Whatever morrey does it does not matter for smith and brew. Its extremely unlikely that in this market landscape smith would take so little money. Brew wants longterm. Cant do that.
Bev and kj have to get an offersheet. Its nothing to worry about.
Morrey will make a trade and fix the pg problem. He cant sign any good pg right now.

If we get a nice trade exception for Bev or Brew...

I could totally see Morey getting Lawson and Chandler from Denver...

Trade for Lawson w/ T-Jones, K-Pap, etc and slip Wilson Chandler into an exception..

Agree with Malakas. With the kind of money that being thrown around, really can“t see either Brewer or Smith coming back.

Honestly i got a feeling we are getting him, it just makes too much sense! Think about the following:

    - We know that he was "floored" by our presentation, but then we haven't heard another peep about us in two days. Either about his situation regarding us or about our own free agents, not a Peep! This is super fishy...

    - Everybody believes that the Spurs are getting him, they made moves to clear cap space, Duncan already announced he is coming back, they extended Leonard and Green and yet although he is supposed to be convinced about them LMA does not pull the trigger? and furthermore Pop asks for another meeting? This is super fishy.....

    - Lakers are out, and in a very humiliating fashion i must say.

    - The suns may have offered an interesting scenario for him but being realistic their chances to get him must be pretty slim. Even with him they are probably not a contender.

    - Mavs may be an interesting option, but like it has been pointed out by many even if they somehow get Jordan as well their squad health and age situation posses to many questions. They dont have a decent PG, Dirk is decrepit, Parsons and Matthews's health is questionable, and Jordan is just not that good, i also think he would rather go to the Spurs then to the Mavs.

    - finally at this point i dont think Portland should be an option anymore, they are probably just going to rebuild.

Who is left? I think that MAYBE Morey is waiting for Bev to get an offer and then use him to land LMA without losing Ariza.

I would normally agree but morey is always about big picture and winning the ring. Durant will hit FA and it would be difficult to imagine Morey not being in pursuit.

Don't know who is correct between you two, but I tend to be in your camp. Can't stand it when the word "flexibility" keeps popping up like some mantra. I don't want to drive Harden into the ground and waste what's left of Howard waiting for Durant to eff us over.

If Durant has secretly told Harden he'll be here, that's one thing, and we'll find out.

    Yeah. $2.50 ain't gonna cut it. (j/k) That's a good question, though.

    Time to pounce Morey:

First let's clarify the fact that I never said Horford nor Durant were coming here as if it were some fantasy of mine. I said the pursuit of those third stars was going to happen. Has it been "officially announced", of course not.

Teams don't make official announcements about who they are pursuing and what thier short and long term plans are. All we have is the blatant and overwhelming evidence of Morey putting off locking in role players long term, even damn good ones, to chase bigger names.

The only fantasy here is that there are only two outcomes here and both are good for the Rockets. That is so far from the truth it's a disservice to the fan base.
