"After all these years": you make it sound like they have been doing this for several years. Really though, this is their 2nd year of being high in the lottery. The Thunder had 3, iirc, to get their core. In addition, they also had the luck to draft a clear star in Durant. Philly has yet to get that opportunity. It is clear that you did not watch Noel develop over the course of the season, and it is often said that players fully recover from ACL tears after a season of playing. Noel is going to be something special, at minimum, on the defensive end, and leaving him out illustrates that you have not followed Philly well. They have so much cap space, rights to overseas players, rookies, draft picks, and 2nd year players that I do not see how you cannot watch what is going on in Philly. They are going to be interesting to track.
exactly. they have all this cap space to sign who? nobody significant. basically the point was that philly probably isn't going to be any good anytime soon.
Reading what everyone has said, I think we all agree that they are most definitely on their way up. Whereas before, they were on their way down or just hanging at the bottom.
If nothing happens with the LMA deal, I would like to see if Philly is willing to give up either Noel or Embiid for literally anything on the roster not named Ariza, Harden, Howard, or DMo.
They may. But not yet. First they will have to see how okafor noel works.( in my opinion will be a disaster ) and see what happens with embiid. Then they will try one. Esp when saric comes over. They need a good pg tho from this year. To ffed their bigs ij the post and set them up. Its not only about wins and tanking. Good players on the roster help rookies develop. Eso good pgs.
That's not gonna happen. If they're trying to rebuild they're not gonna trade a top 3 pick or the best player on their team that's really young

And they aren't planning on being good anytime soon. And neither did the Thunder get so good so quickly. They had to get Green, Durant, Westbrook, and Harden before turning it around, and it still took a year or two of development. Don't forget that they had another lottery pick for Aldrich as well. Obviously, not giving Philly patience is unreasonable, especially since OKC also landed a clear generational talent in Durant. Philly has yet to have that luck. With cap space, they are going to take salary dumps for more assets until they are an improved team, then they will use their cap space to sign max FAs who want to win, similar to how the Rockets are going about it. Dwight didn't want to sign with the Rockets before landing Harden, but then signed with us after Harden. There will be a similar change with Philly.
