COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)– A Colorado Springs man was arrested after police believe he left racist messages outside a church.

The signs were posted outside the New Covenant church that is predominately attended by African Americans. One sign references the KKK. Another reads, “Black men beware, you are the target.”
The messages had the congregation on edge.
“We locked our doors this morning, so we were inside, but it shouldn’t be that way. You shouldn’t have to lock your doors in the church, it’s just… I’m speechless,” said Pastor Roland Joyner.
Police said Broughton admitted to posting the flyers but did not explain why he targeted the church.

The signs weren't racist towards the church, they were saying everyone else (the KKK, the police) were racist towards the church. And they were clearly from a crazy person with the way they were written.

Interesting local story but not sure what it has to do with church fires.

 

7 churches have been burned and no Christian conservatives have lamented about the "assault on Christianity". Real life persecution going on too. This is like free credit for moral high ground status here. Well, except...you know.



That the families of the victims of the Charleston shooting preach forgiveness of the shooter is a damn good example of Christianity's strengths, but alas we get this shiet.

I'm not sure why posting a gay dude's picture as a first response has to do with church fires either, so it's either a boring day or a bad day for texxx to scream for attention.

Now THAT is an interesting interpretation. Interesting, as in completely false. One would have to assume the reader of those PSAs didn't know that the author was black, therefore they would interpret them as a threat.

Maybe it's the burnt down churches that's reminding me of Jim Crow but the circus on this thread just sad. Even if one of the seven is burnt down because of bigotry, does that make it less bad?

smh, the suspect looks like another typical Obama supporter. More blood on Obama's hands, he surely influenced the suspect. Completely irresponsible actions from our half-white president.

 

Yeah, no; a third of the suspects in black church burnings in the nineties were black, and more than a couple of burnings have been tied to fraud. Several have been tied to faulty wiring or weather conditions, there's no good reason to reflexively assert racial terrorism, while dismissing all other possibilities, with an event as common as a burned building.
