It is a dumb deal for orlando that has two young pf one of who is a rfa with potential. They basically told harris to fk off with this offer. And skiles will burry gordon behind millsap. You dont let rfa just walk without exploring s+t.
Yeah....I think this is the much more likely route for the Rockets. Wait for teams to make some poor decisions, and capitalize by stealing quality players for nothing more than Papa and/or Prigioni.
Feels like this free agency is going to go poorly for us. Dudes are getting PAID, and that's not what we needed.
It sounds cliché, but that's exactly what you want. Other than the super high profile free agents, the Rockets rarely participate in the "middle market". Let other teams overpay for above average players, then try to capitalize on a mistake and scour the minimum market.
Anyone we want from the Heat?: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Heat would appear to have no realistic way to bring back Wade and duck tax. Look for them to work hard to dump mid-sized contracts.</p>— Zach Lowe (@ZachLowe_NBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/ZachLowe_NBA/status/616252670467276800">July 1, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
It looks like we will just sign Llull and hopefully resign Brew and Smooth which isn't too bad considering. But Morey still has the Prigs and Papa non guaranteeds as ammo to make a move for an impact player. Lowry and Lawson...Lowry and Lawson...Lowry and Lawson
They got off cheap. If we sign LMA and he resigns next year and Howard opts out we could spend 350mil on those 2.
Surprised that we have heard NOTHING about Josh Smith yet. I would think the Dallas series alone would have gotten him some attention on the market. With guys like Millsap going for what they are going for, if the Rockets get a bargain contract with Josh they will make out like bandits.
Pacers are good for him. George hill is the best fit he could find in the nba. If he sux next to him then there is no salvation for him lol. And stickey will sign elsewhere which may be good for us.
Yeah but JSmoove isn't a number one target for any team. He's an afterthought. So all these teams that are swinging for the fences will be coming his way once all of the big fish are gone.
They will lose whjteside next year. Charlotte if wasnt so eager to get win now vets selling assets coukd have gotten now mcroberts on the cheap. Maybe they will get just chalmers and mcbob will go to toronto.
I think most teams are still leery of Smith's potential to be a chucker, the fact that he's past his prime athletically, and his general tendency to do dumb things on the court. There's many other targets out there
I think they made a right move with the wrong timing. The issue is bringing a veteran looking for a title to a team rebuilding and overpaying. I like the rockets approach, there are some thing we just don´t do, because more often than not is a bad choice, (player option, trade kicker) and I like the timing we use, we bring veterans when we need it, but we don´t overpay for anything less than an elite skill.
Much better than Tony Parker's 14.5M/year. Tony's declining exponentially and still has four years of contract left. Basically their Kobe.
