I don't want to get into that again. The last time I did I got flamed for being a bad poster. Anyway, I was joking with rezdawg per other conversations about the LMA situation.

To think at one point the Lakers had

    Nash
    Kobe
    Artest
    Gasol
    Howard

Nash just came off an all star caliber season, Kobe hadn't been injured yet, Gasol was Gasol, Artest was a couple years younger, Howard played 75+ games.... BUT, wasn't a 100% due to surgery, Nash's age hit hard, Gasol was injured, Kobe was a dick and they had a bad coach.

If it wasn't for injury, chemistry issues and bad coaching, that team would of been pretty awesome.

As much as I like the idea of this team getting another elite player, I kind of want LA to go to San Antonio. Their organization is too good to go through a dry spell because talent doesn't like San Antonio.

You said the Lakers will be a top five team in the west in two years, not me. Portland is a top five team in the west right now. So basically you're asking him to throw away two seasons before they can get him a star supporting cast.

That's just what every 30 year old player wants to hear, isn't it? Athletes in their thirties looking for a championship are like women in their thirties trying to have a baby: they know the clock is ticking. And they're skeptical as hell about empty promises. "We'll get you Durant, we promise! And if Kobe wants to come back for another year we'll say no!" Yeah, right. Two years from now might as well be an eternity.

Some people on here have said they wouldn't trade him for Karl Anthony Towns or in a deal for LMA, sooo...

I say that about Capela to say that I think his likely ceiling is that of a quality starting C, but never an All Star.

There is absolutely no way Aldridge becomes a Rocket this year.

So he guarantees throwing away two years for the chance they are top 5 after that? Essentially take the chance they become as good as the Blazers in 2 years, by signing away a player or two like the Blazers already have? Personally, I think Russel has a great future, but IMO Randle is a long shot to be better than an average starting PF. Plus, the LA means Aldridge is almost 100% their C which will be far worse for his longevity.

Maybe its just me but at the max I hope we don't get this guy. Dudes 30 years old, in a couple of years he's gonna start breaking down and we don't need him with DMO Smith Capela Harrelson and even Wood playing pf. The only 3rd star I want at this point would be Durant LBJ Anthony Davis. Otherwise, better to be like GSW with 2 stars and a boatload of talent.

Lakers must be feeling confident in landing LMA/Love by going with D'Angelo in the draft. That's the feeling I got while watching the draft. I was sure Okafor was going to LAL.

Why the hell would a Rocket fan care about SA falling on hard times?

Oh hell no. I've been eagerly awaiting their downfall for a decade now, and their time is finally running out. Why do they deserve to have 20+ years of consecutive success? What about the other 29 teams?

**** the Spurs. They can suffer through a rebuild like everyone else. The Rockets have rebuilt 3 times during the Spurs' current run.

I will say that I would prefer the Texas teams (HTX and SA) to get FAs while the Lakers continuously get snubbed

    Dallas is in Oklahoma, right?

I see it very unlikely, but, I trust a lot in Morey and the organization. Hope we can strike something with him; anyone know our delegation to the meeting?

Not going to get to excited, it seems to be human nature to choose the one you want last.

Howard will also turn 30 next season and Harden is entering his prime. You have to strike while the iron is hot.
You don't pass on the opportunity to put together one of the most formidable lineups in the league for just the hope that some other superstar may be available at some time in the future.

By the way, you do realize that your list of Rockets power forwards includes a guy coming off back surgery, a wild card, and 3 players who have a combined 12 games of NBA experience.
